Meet the Man Behind Cochin Dog Training Academy | Col. (Dr) Rajasekharan Nair’s Journey 🐾🎖️

Some journeys are driven by passion, and Colonel (Dr) Rajasekharan Nair’s story is one of dedication, experience, and love for dogs. After serving as the Head of the Dog Training Wing of the Indian Army, where he trained dogs for explosive detection, disaster relief, patrolling, and more, he realized that Kerala lacked structured dog training facilities.

In 2010, he turned his years of expertise into a mission—to train not just dogs, but also people who want to understand and work with them. That’s how Cochin Dog Training Academy was born. Today, the academy has trained over 1,000 dogs and shaped 100+ professional trainers, creating a space where pets and their owners learn to communicate better.

Established in 2010 by Colonel (Dr) Rajasekharan Nair, a veteran veterinarian and former Head of the Dog Training Wing of the Indian Army, Cochin Dog Training Academy is dedicated to professional dog training, obedience coaching, and canine care. With expertise in training dogs for explosive detection, disaster relief, guarding, tracking, and patrolling, our academy follows a unique Gurukula method to train both pet dogs and aspiring trainers.
