Every guide to flea treatment for cats in India gives you the same list of herbal shampoos. Not one of the pages we read while writing this mentions the thing that actually sends cats to emergency clinics, which is a dog product reaching a cat. A dog spot-on holds permethrin at 45 to 65%. The topical products registered for cats hold 0.05 to 0.1% of the same chemical. A cat's liver is short of the enzyme that clears it, so this is a species difference rather than a dose you can scale down, and Australia's veterinary regulator recorded cats poisoned by one drop from an ampoule and by licking an empty packet. It does not even need to be your cat's treatment. A cat that grooms a dog treated yesterday, or shares a bed with one, is exposed. Every guide to deworming a dog in India gives you the same chart: every two weeks as a puppy, then monthly, then once every three months for life. Almost none of them tell you which tablet to buy, and that turns out to be the part that matters. Pyrantel on its own treats roundworm and hookworm. It is not a whipworm drug and it is not a tapeworm drug. Those need febantel or fenbendazole, and praziquantel, added alongside it. Two boxes sitting next to each other at similar prices can cover four worms and two worms respectively, and the front of the pack rarely says so. Every guide to dog teeth gives you the same ranking: brushing is best, chews are second best. The WSAVA global dental guidelines say something the guides skip. Brushing is most effective on the incisors and canines. Chewing is most effective on the premolars and molars. They are not competing options, they clean opposite ends of the same mouth, which means a dog getting only one of them has half a mouth nobody has touched. If your cat scrapes at the wall instead of the litter, perches on the rim, or has started going just outside the box, the first thing to check is not the litter. It is the tray. The research that made bigger is better into standard advice offered cats a box 86cm long, longer than any litter tray on sale in India, and they used it far more than the smaller one. The biggest tray we stock measures 58cm. Every buying guide for heavy chewers ranks toys by how long they last, and calls the winner indestructible. Veterinary dentistry treats that exact property as the hazard. A University of Pennsylvania study loaded the big shearing tooth at the back of a dog's upper jaw until it broke, and found it goes at forces an ordinary dog can produce with its own jaw. Seventeen of the twenty-four teeth broke through into the nerve.
