A puppy explores with its mouth. It cannot tell a toy from a hair tie — and a swallowed object does not come out on its own. It becomes an intestinal blockage. That becomes surgery.

Off the floor today:
✓ Hair bands, hair clips, rubber bands
✓ Pencils, pens, erasers
✓ Thread — especially with the needle still on
✓ Chappal bits, charger and earphone wires
✓ Coins, safety pins, plastic covers

Get on your knees and look at the room from their height. Whatever you can see, they can swallow.

Go to a vet immediately if you see: repeated vomiting, not eating, no potty for a day, hunched belly, sudden drooling. Do not wait it out.

Your puppy was taken from its mother and siblings 48 hours ago. The crying is grief, not misbehaviour.

What to do at night:
✓ Stay calm — don't shout, don't scold
✓ Keep its bed in a quiet, dim corner
✓ A soft cloth or ticking clock nearby = comfort
✓ Don't pick it up every time it cries (teaches crying = attention)
✓ Expect 3-7 nights. It passes.

Scolding a scared puppy in week 1 is how fear-based behaviour starts — and that's much harder to fix at 8 months.

1. Where you put the bed. A new puppy is already anxious. Put it in the middle of a busy living room and it never gets to switch off. Quiet corner, dim light, same spot every day.

2. The bowl you bought. That plastic bowl gets chewed. Every chew mark is a scratch, every scratch holds old food and saliva — contaminated long before it looks dirty. Steel. Two of them. Washed daily.

Bringing home a puppy is 10% cuddles and 90% questions nobody prepared you for. 🐶
Is it sleeping too much? Why won't it eat? Why is it crying all night? Is this normal? Is this normal? Is this normal?
If that's you at 2am with your phone in your hand — you're not doing it wrong. Every new puppy parent goes through exactly this week.
One thing that helps immediately: on day one, do less. No new food, no bath, no visitors, no big introductions. Let it sleep. Most of the panic settles on its own.
And the rest of the questions? That's literally my job. Ask me. 🐾
