Common Skin Problems : https://instagram.com/dr_vishal_patel_21?utm_medium=copy_link

Skin is the largest organ in the body, but is often overlooked by pet owners. Pet owners are more likely to worry about possible heart, lung, or kidney diseases than skin conditions. However, dogs and cats (and their owners!) can have a significant decrease in their quality of life if they are dealing with skin disease. Although most skin problems are not emergencies, it is important to get an accurate diagnosis so the condition can be treated. We wants pet owners to understand some of the most common skin conditions that their dogs, cats, and other pets may face as well as how they can be treated and prevented. Contact us if your pet is scratching or licking excessively, or if you notice any changes in your pet's coat or skin, including scaling, redness, discoloration, or bald patches. Once the cause is identified, most skin problems respond well to treatment. We have treated more than 1500 pets of different species having skin problems between May 2020-April 2021 via CONSULTANCY ON CALL Service from all over Nation.
Thank you everyone for joining us online. In next story We had highlighted

Case management of Feline Dermatophytosis in two and half years old cat.

Case via vandana from kota.

It must be said that the cat’s skin is on the front line and faces various environmental aggressions such as parasites or allergens of all kinds. The skin acts as a barrier against bacteria, temperature variations, water losses, etc. There are several major categories of skin diseases including allergies, infections and skin problems like oily skin and / or dandruff.
Skin problems : Skin diseases or dermatoses generate a high percentage of veterinary consultations. If the symptoms are general enough (itching, dandruff, irritated skin), the causes can be very diverse. Skin conditions are among the first reasons for veterinary consultations. Dermatological manifestations can be multiple: an animal that has red skin, scratches, loses hair, gives off a strong smell, has oily skin, dandruff.
Some skin diseases are benign and easy to manage. Others may require heavier support.
Allergy : It is a common problem. There are different types of allergy. Among the most common are allergy to flea bites, food allergy and canine atopic dermatitis, which is particularly common. The latter knows several risk factors including the predisposition of some canine breeds. Atopic cats can be victims of secondary skin infections, the skin, weakened, no longer playing its role as a barrier against certain microbes. An allergic cat remains so for life, unless it is desensitized, which can sometimes allow remission in rare cases. Allergy is managed through adapted medical, food and hygienic measures.Itching is one of the most common symptoms and covers many causes, from parasites to allergies, to behavioural disorders ! Skin problems must therefore be the subject of a rigorous care during which the we will gather a maximum of information and will carry out any appropriate samples and additional examinations in order to find the precise origin of the disorder.

The Importance of Drinking Water for Cat :

Even pickier cats won’t use a bowl at all, and would rather drink straight from your tap. In the wild, cats will usually only drink moving water, as they have learned that this helps prevent them from getting sick. So, if you see your continually tipping over her water dish and drinking the water as it spills across the floor, she’s probably not doing this to spite you, but rather she’s more comfortable drinking moving water. There are a number of ways to provide your cat with moving water without all the cleanup of a spilled water bowl. Consider motion-censored cat water fountains that constantly circulate the water, or allow her to drink from the tap or a running bath just remember to keep the water at a cool temperature.

You can also add more moisture to your cat’s diet. Canned food has a much higher moisture content than dry food. If cat prefers dry food, you can try adding water to her kibble. If you add a small amount of water gradually through meals, she’s more likely to get used to the texture. A combination of dry food and canned food is also an option.

Whichever method you choose, it is important to encourage your cat to drink water. While many may think milk is a good substitute, it is only a myth, and can even cause digestive problems with your cat. Getting your cat to drink water is just as important as feeding her a proper nutrition. Food & Diet
Sugar glider’s diet should contain a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables and about 1/4 of its food should have protein. They tend to prefer fruits and vegetables that have a sweet taste.

Sugar gliders should not be fed raw sugar, sugar substitutes, candy and never give your glider chocolate. If possible, all fruits and vegetables fed to sugar glider should be fresh and not canned.

Fruits & Vegetables : Fruits and vegetables you could feed sugar glider are apples, avocados, bananas, cantaloupe, carrots, sweet corn, figs, grapes, grapefruit, mangoes, oranges, peaches, pears, pineapples, sweet potatoes, and many others.

Protein Foods : Small pieces of cooked lean cuts of meat or poultry without any additional spices or sauces are good sources of protein. Hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, and tofu are also other protein options.

Treats : Sugar Gliders love live insects. Crickets, mealworms, and earthworms are easily attainable insects. Don’t feed sugar glider insects that have been collected outside where they may have been contaminated with pesticides. Although great sources of protein, insects should only be used as treats due to their high fat content.

Nuts are extremely popular treats with sugar gliders. The nuts should be raw and unsalted and be given out sparingly. Although loved by gliders, nuts are high in fat.

Supplements : Multivitamin and calcium with D3 supplements can help.

Water : Even though sugar gliders drink very little and get most of their water from food, fresh water should always be available for your pet. A stoppered water bottle is a great way to keep water available.

Puppy feeding tips :

Pick a good spot for puppy’s food and water bowl—someplace he/she won’t be bothered by activity, with a floor that’s easy to clean.

Depending on breed size, you should feed puppy three meals per day until 6 months of age. After that, reduce to two meals per day.

Remove the bowl after it’s been made available for 30 minutes. This helps prevent overfeeding. Puppies need to chew frequently.

If puppy is overfed, he/she can grow too quickly, causing problems with skeletal development, excess weight and excess fat.

Serve meals at room temperature and resist the urge to mix in additional food such as cottage cheese, hamburger or eggs. Such foods can interfere with the absorption of minerals provided in dog food.

Make sure fresh water is always available.

As puppy grows, it will need more energy and essential nutrients than an adult dog. A highly digestible diet will help puppy absorb more nutrients and adapt more quickly to solid food.

Do not change your puppy’s food in the first few days in puppy's new home as it will only add to the stress caused by the adoption process.

If you are going to change puppy's diet later, introduce new food gradually over a four–day period.

Do not supplement a balanced diet that has been formulated for puppy growth because too much nutrition may actually be bad for your puppy.

Even with the best of care, digestive upsets can sometimes happen if puppy eats too much. Case of Contact dermatitis in 3 year old labrador retriever.
Case via shivani bindal from delhi.
Contact dermatitis may be caused by an allergy, or it may simply mean that pet has touched something that has irritated its skin. It is difficult to distinguish one from the other because the symptoms usually appear the same. Allergic reactions require a previous, sensitizing experience with the irritant. The next contact with the irritant is when symptoms occur. Both dogs and cats can suffer from allergic contact dermatitis and irritant contact dermatitis. It can occur at any age, and is a direct result of the irritating nature of the offending compound.
Dogs suffering from contact dermatitis have rashes and/or bumps on the skin that has come in contact with the ground (i.e., the chin, neck, chest, abdomen, groin, a**l area, sc***um, tail, and between the toes). Other common symptoms are itching and swelling.

Case of ball python on hunger strike (Anorexia) which was handed over to by responsible pet owner.
Case via
Ball pythons are quite notorious for refusing to eat. In fact, feeding problems are by far the most common amongst ball python owners. More often than not, there is absolutely no problem with the care a ball python owner is giving to their pet. Rather, the ball python simply doesn’t feel like eating at the moment. Yet of course, this is far from comforting, and in no way stops an owner from feeling concern over their pet’s lack of appetite.
Adult ball pythons have been reported to go without food for over a year, so if your adult ball python has not eaten in a couple of months, but still looks healthy and isn’t overly thin, try not to worry too much, as he or she will likely not starve any time soon. Young baby ball pythons, however, should not go many months without eating, because they do not have the body fat of an adult ball python to spare. That being said, it is only in very, very rare cases that ball pythons have ever starved themselves to death, so while it isn’t ideal that a ball python is not eating regularly, this is very unlikely to be fatal to your pet.
I’ve guided ball python owners to figure out if there is something within their power they can try to help their ball python feel more comfortable eating.

Case of The Asian water monitor (Varanus salvator) for taming.
Case via Mr.Rizky from surbaya,Indonesia.

Monitor lizards are undomesticated, because they're wild animals, regardless of whether they are captive bred or not. Certain lizard species appear to have a greater proclivity towards becoming tame, while others seem to be naturally more skittish and even aggressive.

Forced handling of monitor lizard is actually very detrimental to the taming process, which is more difficult and lengthy. It understandably creates tremendous fear within monitor lizard, and it can display this in a variety of ways including biting, writhing, defacating, and even remaining motionless (something many reptile hobbyists incorrectly interpret as tame, when in fact the lizard is actually petrified). The best method for taming a monitor lizard is to simply give it some space. Place it in its cage and don't handle it. Resist the urge to interact with it. Over the ensuing weeks (or even months), Utilize food to create a bond between you and your lizard. This does not happen overnight, so be patient.

Case of dermatitis in 6 year old mix German Shepherd female dog.
Case via saloni singh from daltonganj.

Is your dog licking at his paws constantly?
Notice a red, swollen, inflamed appearance to the area between the paws?
If this is happening, Not only does excessive licking cause discomfort for your dog, but it is often due to an underlying medical problem. Often times, excessive licking of the paws is due to one of three underlying causes: -Atopy -Food allergies -Flea allergy dermatitis.
Underlying itchiness is what results in that constant foot licking; the moisture caused by excessive foot licking between the paws can cause a secondary bacterial or yeast infection. This can actually worsen the itchiness and clinical signs.

Case of ectoparasites infestation in 2 year old budriger.
Case via Navya Vaibhav from mysore.
Ectoparasites such as mites can cause thick build-up of skin on the legs of some birds. The actual type of mite varies depending on the bird species. For example, This budgerigar had a beak with a crusty honeycomb appearance due to infestation with Knemidokoptes mites.
It mainly affects the bird’s cere and beak, but can also cause problems in the legs and the vent area. The first sign of the problem will be persistent scratching – the budgie will rub itself on whatever object it can find. A crusty growth will then start to appear on the cere, and the beak will become misshapen as the mites burrow inside. Some facial feathers may be lost. If untreated, the affected body parts will actually drop off, leading to severe handicap.
