Safe House For Animals

Safe House For Animals is a dedicated rescue and rehabilitation shelter service providing safe and healthy spaces for treatment and care of animals that are diseased, abandoned, mistreated, neglected and are often dumped on the streets to fend for themselves or are left to die of misery or old-age. SHFA takes responsibility for the good health and dignity of all such animals that are brought to it

s shelter by SHFA volunteers and animal lovers. Currently SHFA supports around 115 residential animals, primarily dogs and cows under its care. Our Out Patient Department (OPD) also gives free medical treatment to any injured or distressed animal, including birds, that are brought to its shelter. The shelter also houses many puppies whose parents were run over and killed along with calves abandoned at birth since they are of no economical value to humans. As an everyday routine, SHFA shelter service feeds more than 160 street dogs in Gurgaon (Haryana) and 50 street dogs in Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh). Owing to increasing urbanism, our cities are teeming with distressed animals. A service like SHFA is much needed for our cities to become humane, livable, fostering empathy, compassion and coexistence between people and animals. This 'service before self' ecosystem of nurturing and caring at our shelters has resulted in an increase in the number of animals that come here in emergencies and are in dire need of help. Thus, there is an urgent need for an uncommon service like SHFA to be up-scaled and made sustainable.
