Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Faridkot KVK Faridkot is an innovative science based institution which imparts trainings to Practising Farmers/Farm women/Rural Youth/Unemployed Youth.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) , Faridkot was established in 1995 under the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana with full financial assistance from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). This farm is established for the benefit of various sections of rural society. The KVK campus is located at about 120 kilometers distance from the main PAU, Ludhiana campus. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (K

VK) is an innovative science based institution which imparts trainings viz.: Practising Farmers/Farm women (short term-1-2 days), Vocational Trainings for Rural Youth (3-7 days) in the disciplines of Crop Production, Plant Protection, Horticulture, Agronomy, Soil Science, Agriculture Engineering, Animal Science and Home Science for farmers, farm women and unemployed rural youths.

SUGGESTIONS TO CONTROL WHITE FLY ATTACK ON ALTERNATE HOST PLANTS

Besides cotton, white fly is also known to attack the plants of brinjal, tomato, okra, chillies, cucurbit and pulses. Therefore, it is important to keep surveying these fields and use need based control measures.
Since white fly attacks the crops of the cucurbit family, farmers should stop growing cotton and the above mentioned crops together in the same field. The white fly first attacks the plants of the cucurbit family followed by attack on cotton crop. Appropriate spraying of fields to eliminate white fly must be done in fields where cucurbits have been cultivated along with cotton. This should be followed by plucking out the crop and burying it in the field.
