Many pet parents feel bad seeing their pet wearing an Elizabethan Collar (E-Collar) and remove it too early. But in many skin, ear, eye and surgical conditions, preventing licking, scratching and self-trauma can make a major difference in recovery.

🩺 Dr. Vishal explains why an E-Collar is important in cases like:
• Skin infections & eczema
• Constant licking or chewing of wounds
• Ear infections & excessive scratching
• Eye infections or injuries
• Orchitis/scrotal inflammation
• Post-surgical wounds & stitches

Your veterinarian may prescribe the right medicines—but if your pet keeps licking or scratching the affected area, healing can be delayed and the problem can worsen.

In some cases, proper E-Collar use can contribute significantly—sometimes up to 50% of the recovery strategy alongside appropriate treatment and wound care.

❤️ Don’t remove the E-Collar just because your pet looks uncomfortable. Use it for the duration recommended by your veterinarian.

Skin infection in pets isn’t always “just an allergy.” 🐶🐱

There are several different types of skin infections and conditions in dogs & cats — and many can look surprisingly similar.

🦠 Bacterial infections – redness, pustules, crusts & itching
🍄 Fungal/Yeast infections – itching, greasy skin, odour & pigmentation
🔴 Ringworm – circular hair loss & scaling
🕷️ Parasitic infections – mites, fleas & ticks causing intense itching and skin damage
🐾 Secondary skin infections – often develop due to allergies, hormonal problems or excessive scratching

The same symptom can have completely different causes. That’s why identifying the underlying cause is more important than simply treating the itching.

If your pet is constantly scratching, licking, losing hair, developing redness, rashes or an unusual skin odour, get them properly examined. 🩺🐾
