Urgent Funds Appeal - Help Nemo Heal Completely! 🐱🐾

Nemo was rescued with a severe wound festering near her brain and eye. After two surgeries and months of care, she’s finally healing, but we need your support.

When we rescued her, Nemo had a gaping wound dangerously close to her brain and eye socket. It’s a miracle she was alive! Her local caretakers had done everything they could but couldn’t secure veterinary care. On April 1st, 2024, we rescued Nemo and rushed her to the vet. Traumatised and in pain, she couldn’t bear to be touched.

Her wound required daily dressings and medication, but after months of slow recovery, we learned she had a fistula—a wound open from both ends that needed surgery to heal. The surgery was a success, but given that Nemo’s skin around her wound was infected, a second surgery was undertaken to align the flap near her eye.

She is now in her recovery phase and after months of different interventions - her wound is near complete healing.

With 90+ rescued cats in our care at the Happy Home Sanctuary run by People for Animals Uttarakhand, our resources are stretched thin.

Rescue story - Baby Morty was abandoned one cold winter night and was roaming aimlessly, helplessly and hungry for hours. A kind man spotted him, he was rescued and placed in foster care under our wing. For too many years they had space less than an A-4 size sheet of paper to call home. They could not even spread their wings or turn around without colliding with other hens rammed into their overcrowded, barren cages. This was the story of Kaua, Brick and Cuddles till a few months ago...

⏩Fast forward to today⏩

The very same three hens, who were objectified and abused are thriving and have been virtually adopted now 🏠 We cannot thank their virtual adopters enough for giving them the warmest welcomes into their lives ❤️

🐤 Kaua was the first baby birdo to be virtually adopted by .therethere.ya 👑 Shreya met Kaua recently and it melted our hearts to see Kaua meet the kind, compassionate person who has opened her heart out to Kaua.

🌈 Brick - formerly Cleo, was the next to find his mom(s)! Ankita, Sanjana and Ananya, , , together adopted her. Brick continues to amaze us with her goofy antics - always devising ways to get the most food out of her feeding tray the fastest!

🌼 Daisy, our gentlest girl, has found a bff in Kartik and we could not be happier for her! Daisy is chattering away and can often be seen perched on the windowsill (netted of course) watching the monsoon downpour and chattering away!

Our hen tribe is expanding and we are so grateful to each of these kind individuals who have given their love and support to the 3 baby birds.
