Our team recently conducted comprehensive ophthalmic evaluations and field-based eye care for llamas and impalas, using specialized slit-lamp biomicroscopy, Indirect ophthalmoscope, Tonometry to assess the anterior segment of the eye, retina, detect subtle ocular diseases, and guide treatment decisions. Alongside detailed ophthalmic examinations, selected cases also underwent field-level surgical management whenever required.

Exotic animal ophthalmology demands patience, precision, teamwork, and species-specific expertise. Every examination contributes not only to the health of the individual animal but also to the welfare of the entire herd.

A effort by Dr. Madan Kompal and Dr. Rahil Kittur, extending advanced veterinary ophthalmic care beyond the hospital and into the field.
