Wow!!
ONE OF THE WORLD'S OLDEST PIT BULLS!
The average life expectancy of a healthy pit bull is around 12 yearsš¶, however with the breedās social stigmas and risk factors many sadly donāt make it that long. So when we came across Tigger, a 22 year old pit bull in Waco, Texas, we knew we had to find out more about her for our book, The Forever Dogš¾
With an easy going and rich social life, Tigger had one of the most important lifestyle factors according to longevity experts - low stress, particularly in the home. As a rescue/foster-mom, Julie Morriss had many dogs in and out of her home so āin our house everyone has to have a calm state of mindā. She also spent most of her days out and about, accompanying Julie throughout her day.š And though Tigger was raised mostly on kibble, Julie told us she did two key things with Tigger: she always had some sort of fresh food shared with her throughout her lifeš„¦šš„©, and Julie cycled through different pet food brands and types of protein she gave her, "we just didn't stick to one brand."
When asked what piece of advice she would give other pet parents she offered, "Feed your dog some broccoli today...[and don't] beat yourself up, I fed kibble. You just do what you can and when you know better you try to do a little better." ā¤
