This darling little puppy was initially suspected as suffering from a fracture or a possible spinal injury. Luckily though, there is no such evidence, he has started eating and regained strength enough to make friends with the other care centre residents. And the good news is that, he is walking about as well, albeit gingerly. He will be closely monitored by the vets. Thanks Kruthi, for helping us helping him.

ATTENTION: TO ALL DOG LOVERS - ITS TIME TO STAND UP AND FIGHT AGAINST THESE MORONS, IF WE DON'T DO ANYTHING THEY WILL CONTINUE BEING RUTHLESS, LET'S SUPPORT THE CUPA IN ALL POSSIBLE WAY TO FIGHT THIS

Motu's story is nothing short of cruelty. Adopted from the CUPA Adoption Center about 4 months back by what seemed to be 'criteria fitting' individuals, Motu left the center a happy, jolly, handsome man.

A few days back he was returned by the 'owners' who complained that he had become aggressive ! He was brought back to the center in a ghastly state, with a large wound on his back and in a completely neglected and deteriorated state.

He was immediately sent to the CUPA Trauma Center for treatment where he was diagnosed with Tick fever. He also has a large maggot wound on his back which has been festering for many weeks along with discharge from his eyes and nose.

It makes you stop and think what kind of people can sit by and watch their own dog suffer and slowly slip away from this world.
Motu's condition is terrible and the chances that he will survive are very slim. Still, we continue to hope for the best and pray that maybe he will get one more chance to have a happy life.

We ask that you spread the word, that having a pet is your responsibility to provide for them to the best of your ability. And if you cannot take care and respect a dog or cat please do not choose to have one.
The pictures show Motu at the shelter before he got adopted and then after he was neglected and returned.

Motu moved on to a higher and a better place.........

CUPA will be taking the necessary legal steps in this case.

EFFECTS OF CHAINING A DOG -

British animal behaviorist Dr. Roger Mugford, “Dogs, just like human beings who get locked up for no reason, will get mean and bitter”?

The short answer, according to renowned animal behavior specialist Shelby Marlo, is that “dogs who are forced to live their lives at the end of a chain suffer from severe psychological, emotional, and behavioral effects.”

Dogs are territorial animals. A chain or tether limits the animal’s space and makes the boundary of those few square feet of territory much more distinct

Chaining “increases the likelihood of a dangerous defensive response to a perceived encroachment on the dog’s territory or possessions (food or water bowls).”

Tragic news stories and statistics make the connection between tethering or chaining and dog attacks clear.

Moti

2007's Dog of the Year winner was Moti, the five year old German Shepherd who literally took a bullet for his human family. When a masked intruder made his way into the Patel household, Moti wasted little time, leaping to his feet and barking to draw the gunman's attention. Faced with the angry pooch, the gunman shot him and ran off without harming any of the Patels. Luckily, this furry hero is making a full recovery!

His Name is Brutis and he is a Hero

Brutis was a 7 year old golden retriever when he became a hero in 2004. That's when the loveable pooch snatched up a coral snake as it was slithering dangerously close to a young child, suffering a near-deadly bite from the snake in the process. His heroics did not go unnoticed however, as Brutis was promptly flown to Los Angeles to recieve the National Hero Dog award.

Said the committee who awarded the medal, "when we give an award like this, we're looking for something extra, something that would make people wonder why a dog would do what he did."
