Clerkin Veterinary Hospitals are looking for a Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team across Virginia Veterinary Hospital and Clerkin Veterinary Cootehill.

We offer a genuinely varied caseload, including routine first-opinion nursing, preventative care, diagnostics, inpatient and emergency care, anaesthesia, theatre nursing, advanced surgery and plenty of orthopaedic work.

This handsome fellow is Bluey. 🖤

Bluey was brought to us with a fractured mandibular symphysis and needed surgical repair. Thanks to some surgery, nursing care, pain relief, and a lot of TLC, he’s now well on the road to recovery.

We’re looking forward to seeing him back for his post-op check and watching his progress over the coming weeks.

Wishing you a smooth recovery, Bluey. You’ve been a very brave patient. 🐾

🐱 Is your cat trying to tell you something?

Cats are experts at hiding illness. In the wild, showing weakness can make an animal vulnerable, and our feline friends haven’t entirely lost that instinct.

Because of this, the signs of illness in cats are often subtle.

Changes such as:
• Sleeping more than usual
• Eating less
• Weight loss
• Drinking more water
• Changes in litter tray habits

can sometimes be the first indication that something isn’t quite right.

Many owners are surprised to learn that indoor cats can also develop common health conditions such as dental disease, kidney disease, arthritis, obesity and diabetes.

If your cat is over 7 years of age, regular health checks become even more important, helping us identify problems early and keep them comfortable for years to come.

After all, cats rarely make things obvious. They’d much rather leave us guessing.

🐾 Is your dog’s vaccination up to date?

Many owners remember puppy vaccinations but forget that protection doesn’t last forever.

Annual boosters help protect against serious infectious diseases including:
✔ Distemper
✔ Hepatitis (Adenovirus)
✔ Parvovirus
✔ Leptospirosis
✔ Kennel Cough

Whether your dog is a social butterfly at the dog park, enjoys country walks, attends daycare or simply loves sniffing every puddle they can find, keeping vaccinations current is one of the simplest ways to help keep them healthy.

Not sure when your dog’s booster is due? Give our team a call and we’ll be happy to check.
