At Tralee Equestrian Centre, we believe in the incredible connection between horses and people. Through Therapeutic Riding and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), we create a welcoming, supportive space where children, teenagers and adults of all abilities can learn, grow, connect and thrive. 💚

🌿 A little bit about what we offer:

🐴 Therapeutic Riding – developing physical skills, confidence, balance, coordination and independence.

💚 Equine Assisted Learning – ground-based activities with horses that encourage communication, emotional awareness, relationship-building and personal growth.

✨ Sessions can be ground-based, ridden, or a combination of both, depending on each individual’s needs, goals and preferences. No previous horse experience is necessary!

🌈 We welcome and support individuals with a wide range of needs, including:

💚 Sensory processing needs
💚 Low confidence and self-esteem
💚 Physical and intellectual disabilities
💚 Communication and speech development needs

Our sessions take place at the start of the beautiful Kerry Camino Way, surrounded by the opportunity to enjoy nature at its very best when the weather permits. 🌿

We have an indoor riding arena and a connecting indoor stable yard, allowing us to offer activities indoors whatever the weather. We also have a sensory room, sensory trail and quiet-time opportunities to help individuals feel comfortable, supported and settled.

💚 Experience, care and safety matter.

With over 20 years of experience, we’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals and families on their journeys. Some of our original clients are still with us today and have become firm friends. That is something we treasure deeply! 🥹💚

Our EAL and Therapeutic Riding coaches are fully qualified and have the relevant Garda vetting, first aid, child protection and Autism in Sport training. We also maintain public liability insurance and GDPR practices.

Every person is different. Every journey is unique. We work to create a supportive environment where everyone is valued, encouraged and given the opportunity to reach their own goals. 🐴💚

🐴 A Warm Welcome Back to MTU Veterinary Students! 🐴

It was wonderful to welcome back the MTU Veterinary Nursing and Veterinary Bioscience students to our centre over the past few weeks for their field days! 🐎

Charlotte and Nicola had a busy and enjoyable time, giving the students valuable hands-on learning opportunities and an insight into the day-to-day care and management of horses.

Throughout their visits, the students covered a wide range of important topics, including:

🐴 Horse Handling & Behaviour – handling horses in stressful situations, understanding natural equine behaviour and learning how to use this knowledge to our advantage.

🩺 Horse Health – recognising signs of good and poor health, common equine ailments and wound care.

🏇 Lunging – learning how and why we lunge horses.

🌾 Feeding & Watering – feeding rules, common feedstuffs, hay and haylage, and the importance of correct watering practices.

🦴 Equine Anatomy & Farriery – exploring equine anatomy, the horse’s foot and shoeing.

📋 Identification & Documentation – microchipping and scanning, charting and equine passports.

⛑️ Health & Safety – safe horse handling, working safely around the yard and the correct storage of medicines.

We always enjoy welcoming the next generation of veterinary professionals and sharing our passion for horse welfare, good horsemanship and equine care. ❤️

Our sessions are suitable for complete beginners through to intermediate riders, making it a lovely opportunity for children to learn, build confidence and have fun with the ponies. 🐎💕
