Tails and Trails I am a dog trainer and behaviour consultant, my passion is K9 fitness and adventure activities. We are retailers of high quality dog equipment.

I am a qualified dog trainer and have a special interest in canine fitness. I am also a qualified canine and human first aider. I have been working dogs in harness, both in Ireland and abroad, for 15 years, and ran a sled dog rescue for 7 years. I believe in and only use scientifically proven positive training methods. The classes I run include general obedience, scentwork, canicross and other s

led dog disciplines, as well as general dog fitness, such as core conditioning and body awareness. I also do one to one training and behaviour consultations in NW Ireland. I cover an area between Ballina and Dromore West for dog walking and daily visits. I also offer a wedding day service, if you would like your dog(s) to be part of your special day.

With 9 weeks until the ICF world championships in Poland, Olli and I are taking every opportunity to train. It was a gorgeous morning in Enniscrone, 9 degrees, sunshine, no wind, low tide and an empty beach. Today was our longest training run of the pre-season so far, 4kms on the sand which is hard work even for a powerhouse like Olli. Temps went up very quickly so early morning was the right time to go, no matter how much I hate that alarm.

We checked out a possible forest training trail today, unfortunately it's not really suitable but the boys enjoyed the walk. After years of owning huskies, it still feels odd to let the dogs off lead but Diefer never goes far and Olli likes to do what Diefer does. Lots of checking in with me and being released to reinforce the recall led to a lovely afternoon for all of us.

The new sleddog season is beckoning and we have lots of plans. We are aiming to race with Canicross Ireland and Sporting...

The new sleddog season is beckoning and we have lots of plans. We are aiming to race with Canicross Ireland and Sporting Dogs Ireland / SHCNI here at home, and The BSSF and .a.t.b.dogsports in the UK and of course heading to Poland in November for the world championships with the WCh ICF 2026 Owińska the dog's pre-season has started and I've been working really hard all summer on my own fitness. This year I'm hoping to run the bold Olli mostly in bikejore - except for the world championships where we're doing scooter - and the rescue failed foxhound Tesha in 1 and 2 dog scooter classes. We're looking for new sponsors this season, so please do contact me if you'd like to work with us. My ethos is to work hard but always to remember that the dogs are my pets first and foremost and fun for them is the name of the game. Unfortunately Diefer has now retired on medical grounds from competitive racing, but he went out on a high, winning the British championship last year in 1 dog scooter. I'm a 61 year old woman who believes in empowering and promoting women, especially us older athletes - we don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.

Whilst dog walkers in the UK and across the continent are cancelling walks and doing early morning drop ins, Irish walkers are layering up and throwing on a hat. Yes, I know the hat is inside out but the orange stands out really well against the foliage on a lane way walk, my jacket from Nordikota Print & Embroidery usually does but not with everywhere in full leaf. Isn't Mr H gorgeous, such a big softie.

I had the absolute pleasure of spending time with these two gorgeous creatures over the last week. Like most labradors, Big Mr C loves attention, cuddles and playing with a ball. Little Mr C showed his true feline nature, allowing me to feed him but any cuddles were all done on his terms. Big C and I used to have an understanding that I could drive up to his house, deliver things but then had to leave immediately. Thankfully that has changed and I'm now allowed in, as long as I pay the ball or treat tax 😀

We had a really busy weekend with old and new clients, walking, feeding and getting cuddles. I love that the feline Ms C always likes to accompany Ms S on the walks. Quite a few cat visits over the weekend, always a pleasure, even when Mr S was doing zoomies around my head.

Trying to get Olli to enjoy the water - he's definitely getting better, with Diefer's help who absolutely loves swimming. We love the toys, great for retrieving in the water
