Well, that’s one place to keep your Kong… 😳😂

This guy came in with a suspected foreign body, but wasn’t too keen on letting us have a proper look in his mouth while awake 😅

Once safely under anaesthetic, Aoife went to intubate him and discovered the culprit lodged at the back of his throat…

A whole Kong. 😳

Thankfully, the opening through the Kong meant he was still able to breathe despite where it had become lodged.

Aoife managed to pop it out and was, quite rightly, VERY pleased with herself 😂👏

Patient safe, Kong retrieved ❤️

Sadly, despite having an entire veterinary team present, not one person thought to video the moment.

Priorities, people 🙄😂

Ever wondered what our veterinary nurses actually do? 👀🐾

A lot more than you might think!

Here’s Yesha with the very handsome Saber, who popped in for a nurse appointment for his nail clip 💅🐶

Our nurses are a huge part of your pet’s care and you’ll find them doing everything from nurse clinics and post-op checks to blood sampling, monitoring anaesthetics, caring for our inpatients, taking X-rays, running lab work and approximately 400 other things before lunchtime 😂

Basically, if you’ve been in Raheny, there’s a very good chance one of our nurses has been involved in looking after your pet somewhere along the way 💚

We might have to show you a little more of what they get up to behind the scenes…

She’s settling in brilliantly and, as you can see, has already been handed some very important responsibilities 😂❤️

Meet Marta 👋🐾

We’re delighted to welcome Marta to the Raheny Vets team.

Marta qualified in Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and has 18 years’ experience in small animal medicine and surgery. She also has an Advanced Postgraduate qualification in exotic animal medicine, with a particular interest in treating some of the more unusual members of the family 🐰🦎🦜🐢

As you can probably tell from the photos, exotics have been a big part of Marta’s veterinary career for many years!

And while she loves the weird and wonderful, she is very much a small animal vet too and is equally happy seeing your cats and dogs 🐶🐱

We’re so pleased to have her with us and can’t wait for more of you to meet her. 💚

🐾 Poor Sadie wasn’t exactly thrilled with her new accessory… 😂🩹

Our receptionist Hannah noticed Sadie licking her paw after a walk last week. Licking at one area can often be a sign that something is sore or painful. After taking a closer look, she’d managed to cut her paw pad, so in she came to get it checked and treated! 🐾

A few daily bandage changes later (which Sadie was clearly delighted about 👀😂), she came back for her recheck and thankfully it is healing really well! 🥰

Of course, having a receptionist for a mam means even your most unimpressed moments means there’s always time for a photoshoot 📸😂🐾

🐀🩺 Tiny patients, big personalities! 💕

We had these two adorable little rats in to see us recently. Just look at those little faces… how could you not fall in love with them? 🥹🤍

Tiny paws, little whiskers and a whole lot of cuteness - they definitely stole a few hearts while they were here! 🐾✨

When you’re too big for the kennel… so you get upgraded to the office instead 😂🏢🐾

Meet Ozzy, who quickly discovered that being a little too large for our kennels comes with certain perks…

✨ Private office
✨ Constant company
✨ Regular attention
✨ Supervising all administrative duties
✨ Absolutely no intention of leaving

Safe to say Ozzy was VERY happy with his accommodation upgrade 😂❤️

When you break your leg at just 3 months old, extra cuddles are definitely required 🥹❤️

Poor little Rocco had a bit of a mishap after falling from a box and came in to us today for X-rays on his broken leg.

Thankfully, Nurse Róisín was on hand for the very important job of cuddle duty while he drifted off to sleep for his X-rays 🥰

We’re not entirely sure who enjoyed it more… 😂

Feel better soon, gorgeous boy 🐾❤️
