Today, on International Veterinary Nurses Day, we’re shining a spotlight on our amazing team of five veterinary nurses; Emma, Lisa, Rosie, Paul and Megan!

From comforting nervous patients and giving endless cuddles, to providing expert nursing care, supporting our vets and being there for pets and their owners when they need us most — our nurses do it all. 🐶🐱🐰
Their compassion, dedication, knowledge and kindness make such a difference every single day, and we are so lucky to have these five fabulous nurses as part of our team!

We understand that visiting the vets can be a stressful experience for both the cat and the caregivers. Here's a few of our top tips to help reduce some of the stress.

😸 Allow your cat to become used to the cat carrier at home.
Leave the carrier out at home as an extra bed or safe space. Practice getting your cat into the carrier because often this is the biggest challenge. Ensure the carrier is sturdy and secure especially as we can have dogs coming and going at the same time as your appointment.

😸 Schedule your appointment at a time that maybe somewhat quieter. When booking your appointment check with a member of staff if this is possible.

😸 Ensure your cat is comfortable in the carrier. Put a blanket or towel in the bottom of the carrier and an extra one for your cat to borrow into. Hold the underneath part of the carrier and a towel could also be placed over the carrier when driving.

😸 Prepare the car for the journey.
Spray the car with calming spray/synthetic feline pheromones at least 15 minutes before putting your cat in it. Adjust the car to a comfortable temperature.

😸 Bring your cat in hungry.
This helps reduce nausea in the car and also can mean you maybe able to distract your cat with treats during the examination.

😸 Give yourself plenty of time.
If you're rushing and feeling stressed, your cat will too.
