🐈⬛ANIMALIA STORIES
Meet Rudy, a handsome long-haired black cat who enjoys exploring the world on his own terms.
Unfortunately, one of those adventures ended with an encounter no curious cat wants to have…
Rudy became tangled in discarded fishing tackle, with a large fishing lure and multiple hooks embedded in the skin of his chest and front leg.
Removing the hooks wasn’t as simple as using surgical instruments. In the end, the strongest tool we reached for was a pair of bolt cutters to safely cut through the heavy-duty fishing hooks before they could be removed without causing further injury.
Thankfully, Rudy was incredibly brave throughout the whole procedure and is now recovering well.
Cases like this are also an important reminder that discarded fishing equipment can pose a serious danger to wildlife and our pets. Even a single lost lure can cause painful injuries.
If you enjoy fishing, please take a moment to collect any unwanted line, hooks or lures before leaving the area. It really can save an animal’s life.
Wishing Rudy a speedy recovery and many safer adventures ahead. 🐾
