We had the absolute pleasure of visiting the wonderful students and staff at Scoil Mhuire recently with some of our lovely ponies 🐴💛
From the moment we arrived, we were made feel so welcome by everyone in the school. It was such a special experience to see the excitement, smiles, and gentle interactions between the students and our ponies throughout the day. The students were fantastic with the animals, and it was heartwarming to watch the confidence, joy, and curiosity that the visit brought to so many.
At Hungry Horse Outside, we truly believe in the positive connection between animals and people, and days like this remind us why we love what we do. Seeing the happiness the ponies brought to the students made the visit incredibly rewarding for our whole team.
A huge thank you to all the staff at Scoil Mhuire for inviting us, organising everything so beautifully, and making us feel part of your school community for the day. Your kindness and support were greatly appreciated, and we are so grateful to have shared such a memorable experience with you all.
We hope to visit again soon! 🐎✨ A special Thank You to the students who organised and ran a bake sale in aid of Hungry Horse.

A Beautiful New Beginning on Achill Island 🏝️🐴

We’re so happy to share that one of our rescued donkeys has found the most wonderful new home… all the way on beautiful Achill Island.

This special rehoming came about because a lovely owner reached out to us. They already had one donkey who was feeling lonely and in need of a companion. As many of you know, donkeys are incredibly social animals — they thrive on friendship, bonding, and having another donkey by their side.

After careful checks and making sure it was the perfect match, our rescued boy made the journey to Achill. Now, instead of standing alone, there are two donkeys grazing side by side, keeping each other company just as it should be. 💕

Seeing our rescues go from uncertainty to safety, friendship, and love is exactly why we do what we do.

Thank you to everyone who supports our work — every donation, share, and kind word helps us give animals a second chance at life and companionship.

Today at Hungry Horse Outside 🐴

We had a group of young vets join us for some hands-on learning, gaining real experience with gelding under guidance and care.

As an equine rescue, we sadly have more than enough colts needing this essential procedure — but moments like this turn a challenge into something positive, helping educate the next generation while improving the lives of our horses.

Grateful for their enthusiasm, compassion, and willingness to get stuck in 💚

Every day is a learning day — for humans and horses alike.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM HUNGRY HORSE OUTSIDE

As the curtain closes on 2025 and we welcome a brand New Year. We would like to take a moment to reflect. 2025 was a year filled with incredible highs and extreme lows, a year of challenges and triumphs.
Firstly, none of what we do is possible without the continued support of you, the public. Be that in the form of words of encouragement or donations, both monetary and physical. You are what keeps the wheels turning and have allowed us to help so many more animals in 2025. Those animals who are most in need.
This year alone we have helped the most vulnerable of animals, those who have nothing or no one. Horses, donkeys, dogs and cats all came knocking on the HHO door for help and we are incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to do our best for them.
Every share, every donation, every message of encouragement is what helps us make a difference. There is no us without you.
2025 brought a heartbreaking loss with the passing of the wonderful Sue Paling of Sathya Sai Trust of Nature, a truly extraordinary woman whose compassion knew no limits. She gave quietly, selflessly and with an unwavering love for the animals. Her absence is felt by all who knew her but her legacy lives on.

Thank you for standing through the year with us all. Hundreds of animals were helped, rehabilitated and rehomed. We're proud of what we have achieved, we step in to the new year with hope, gratitude and determination for the animals and because of you.

Happy New Year to you all.

Delighted to be able to take part once again in St Mel’s cathedrals live crib.

It’s strongly becoming a highlight of our Christmas here at HHO. If you’ve not yet been, next year it should be on your list of things to do.
Mulled w**e, the smell of incense, Christmas carols & more!

🦊 Support the Ban on Fox Hunting

Tomorrow, a bill will be brought before the government that could finally put an end to fox hunting in Ireland. At Hungry Horse Outside, we strongly support this legislation.

Fox hunting is a practice that causes prolonged fear, stress, and suffering to a sentient wild animal. It has no place in a modern society that claims to value animal welfare, compassion, and ethical stewardship of our countryside.

As an animal rescue, we see first-hand the consequences of outdated traditions that prioritise sport over life. Protecting animals—domestic and wild alike—means standing up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

We urge decision-makers to show leadership, humanity, and progress by supporting this bill. A ban on fox hunting is not an attack on rural life—it is a step forward for kindness, responsibility, and respect for nature.

📣 Now is the time to choose compassion.
Please stand with us and support the ban.
