🎆🐾 Firework season is here — let’s keep our pets safe!

Fireworks can be frightening for dogs, cats and other pets. A little preparation can make a big difference:

🏠 Keep pets indoors and make sure windows, doors and cat flaps are secure.

🎵 Put on the TV, radio or calming music to help mask the bangs.

🛋️ Create a quiet, comfortable hiding place where your pet can retreat.

🐕 Walk dogs before dark and keep them securely on a lead.

❤️ Stay calm and reassuring — your pet will take comfort from you.

💊 If your pet becomes extremely anxious, don’t hesitate to get in touch and speak to one of the vets or nurses before fireworks night about suitable options.

Did you know these fun facts about Guinea pigs?

They are polyphasic sleepers so take lots of mini naps lasting 10-30 minutes rather than one big sleep, and they also often sleep with their eyes open!

They have better hearing than humans. Humans can hear frequencies between 16 and 20000Hz whereas guinea pigs can hear all the way up to 46000Hz!

Baby Guinea pigs are called pups not piglets!

They have 20 teeth that never stop growing and need hay in their diet to help wear them down!

They have 258 bones, more than humans that only have 208!

Guinea pigs have 14 toes in total, 4 on the front feet and only 3 on the back!

They are very social animals and need a companion to stay happy!
