Your dog’s behaviour may change this evening due to the solar eclipse. Here’s how 👇🏻

☀️ Heading to their bed earlier than usual
☀️ Waiting near their food bowl or the door
☀️ Following family members around the home
☀️ Pacing, whining or appearing restless
☀️ Becoming quieter or sleepier
☀️ Barking at changes outside
☀️ Seeking reassurance or somewhere to hide

Some of the things you can do to settle your dog 👇🏻

🌒 Keep meals, walks and bedtime at their normal times.
🌒 Close curtains if the changing light appears to unsettle the dog.
🌒 Provide access to its usual bed or quiet space.
🌒 Avoid taking nervous dogs to crowded eclipse-viewing locations.
🌒 Use familiar activities, such as a food puzzle or gentle indoor play.
🌒 Remain calm and avoid making the event feel alarming.
🌒 Contact a vet if the dog displays severe or persistent signs of distress.

This is shared just for guidance, there’s no need to worry. The Solar Eclipse itself poses no inherent danger to dogs. The potential behavioural changes are caused by the unexpected change in daylight and temperature, temporarily disrupting your dog’s environmental cues they use to understand their daily routine.

Five years ago, all I had was a puppy, a sewing machine and an idea 💡

I always dreamed of being my own boss and working for myself, I just never imagined it would be in the dog industry. Somehow, life kept giving me little signs to follow, and they led me here 🐾

Five years later, I’m still doing what I love, surrounded by the best community of dogs and their humans. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey so far. Here’s to the next chapter 🎉
