Veterinary services for small and large animals in the Killarney and surrounding areas. Available 24/7 for emergencies 06466 31121

Welcome to Killarney Veterinary Clinic. The clinic was established in 1973 by Jerry Myers who took over the practice of Owen Gleeson who had operated the clinic since 1954. Jerry qualified from UCD in 1972 and worked in Castleisland before relocating to Killarney where he has practiced ever since. Shane Myers, qualified from UCD in 2005 and moved back home to work in the family practice in 2008. We offer a wide range of services for both small and large animals. We have a comprehensive, in house laboratory, including haematology and biochemistry blood testing. We have a dedicated surgical team with state of the art surgery/theatre to perform all the latest surgeries for your pets. We perform all surgeries at our clinic in Killarney and offer pre-anaesthetic blood testing to assess your pet's health before surgery.

Kerry County Council has received 48 applications for certificates of exemption from members of the public who own XL Bully dogs.
A total of 41 were granted and the remainder are under review.
From 1st February, it is illegal to own an XL Bully without a special licence from the local authority.
The certificate, which includes details of the microchip and whether the dog is neutered, allows the owner to keep XL Bully at their address until the end of the dog’s natural life.
Overall, taking all breeds into consideration, a total of 15,573 dog licences were issued in Kerry in 2024.
46 dog-related fines were issued and 140 dogs were rehomed.
