The National Reptile Zoo is Ireland's only dedicated reptile zoo!! With over 50 exhibits, our fully indoor facility provides hours of fun for all ages! With animal encounter sessions throughout each day, you're guaranteed to meet some scaly friends and make memories that last a lifetime! We also have a play area and indoor/outdoor picnic areas too! This year, the Turtle Survival Alliance is working on a goal to reintroduce 5,000 critically endangered Radiated Tortoises (Astrochelys radiata) back into the wild.

Your support powers conservation initiatives across 30 countries, from feeding Critically Endangered turtles at Turtle Survival Center to returning thousands of rescued tortoises to the wild in Madagascar.

We're taking a look at Irelands native herpetofauna for Biodiversity Week 2026!

The Natterjack (Epidalea calamita) is the rarest of all our Amphibians and are found only in coastal areas of Kerry and Wexford. While sometimes reported in other habitats, they prefer open sandy areas near water, particularly sand dunes.

An NRZ survey tells us that only 23% of people were aware of this toad!
