A client in the fermoy area is looking for help rehome their pet dog Rosie. She’s 6, very friendly and neutered. Unfortunately, due to housing issues they are no longer able to care for her but would love to see her go to a great new home.

A warning to all livestock farmers
I was called yesterday by a distressed farmer. He found 2 big bullocks dead in the field when he went to check on them. A resulting post mortem was inconclusive but a walk along the bank of the stream where they were grazing settled the matter. With the low rain fall and drought conditions, these cattle were able to start eating Water Hemlock. This plant is extremely poisonous and there is no cure or antidote known. Death unfortunately comes very quickly to affected animals. Take care to have all water courses properly fenced where this plant is found. It is very common along all rivers, streams and marshy ground.

Meet Billy, an 8 month old Jack Russell X Collie. Billy came in late last Thursday night with a pain in his stomach and persistent vomiting. It turns out Billy has a habit of eating stones out in the garden. Billy came back in Friday morning after no improvement seen overnight and an xray showed that he had a foreign body in his abdomen. We performed emergency surgery and sure enough we removed a 2cm stone from his small intestine. Thankfully, Billy's recovery has been very smooth so far and has been sent home. Fingers crossed for a full recovery for this very sweet puppy.

We were delighted to support the Avondhu Point to Points today at Knockanard. Well done to the organising committee for putting on a great day's racing. The showers stayed away mostly and the big crowd were treated to an exciting spectacle.
