You are probably feeding your dog beaks, feet, and feathers and you do not know it.
The phrase “meat and animal derivatives” on the back of a bag of dog food is the legal term for what is left after the meat has been taken off for human food. Beaks. Feet. Feathers. Ground down. Put in the bag. Sold to you as dog food in your local supermarket.
The phrase “cereals” on the back of the same bag means whatever grain was cheapest that week. Wheat one batch. Maize the next. The dog never eats the same food twice and you never know.
Most dog owners in Ireland have never read the back of the bag. Nobody told them to. The marketing on the front says complete and balanced. The legal phrase on the back tells a different story.
