Loose lead walking is one of the many skills we cover in dog club. We have a very simple but effective way of checking progress …. If the handler can hold an egg and spoon and lead in one hand while walking - then we’ve probably got decent loose lead walking. 😉

Hidden cost #56763368898654478 of having a dog that grows to be the size of a small donkey!

We had to get the van fitted with bigger crates so that he can sit & stand & turn comfortably. Actually come to think of it - I had to get a bigger van to fit the bigger crates! The old crates were ok for travel but Considering the amount of time Stephen spends in the van - a bit more space was required. Central partition is removable too so for extra space- he can actually fully stretch out. Lucky doggos, poor broke momma! 🫣😂🫣

Funny story!

So I met with 2 colleagues to train our own dogs early this morning. We set up as shown and a few hrs later An gardaí siochána showed up ……. Now we were in the middle of nowhere and the squad car didn’t randomly travel miles out of the town to that particular car park unless they got a call….. the gardaí were lovely - quick chat, and they were off again. They did ask how many dogs we had with us - we had 5 but only one out at a time.
Mind you the 5 were 3x rotties, 1xmali & 1x Irish wolfhound x 🤣🤣

But yes - somebody called the law on us today. What is it about this set up that would have you reaching for your phone? I mean it’s not like we were tryna be low key 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Every day is a school day!
I have done thousands of hour’s mantrailing and have seen tens of thousands of trails and never before have I ever known a cat to join a “missing person” and stay there when the dog comes along …. And the best part? The cat seemed genuinely interested and the dog couldn’t have cared less, he wanted his reward and his ball - that’s what happens when he finds his missing person - and Pip saw no reason for that to change tonight 🤣🤣🤣
MANTRAILING teaches them to expect the unexpected and ignore everything except their trail.
Well done to all the dog teams tonight, Teams Dudley, Pip, Broady, Mia and Ted all did amazing work with long and complex trails - I genuinely am so impressed with & Proud of all the dog teams in dog club. You guys are doing amazing work.

It was so hard not to get in there with him today. The water was actually warm to the touch. Might try to get a swim in later (tide dependant)
