Meet Lila 🐾

Lila was transferred to PEH after being off form for a few days, with vomiting, diarrhoea and little interest in food. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis and needed some extra care and monitoring overnight.

Thankfully, by the following morning, Lila was already looking much brighter. She had a great appetite, no further diarrhoea and was starting to show her personality again — wagging her tail and looking for some attention from the team.

We were so happy to see this little girl feeling more like herself again! 🐶❤️

Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas and can range from mild to severe.

Vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhoea, lethargy or abdominal pain can all be signs to look out for. If your dog is showing these symptoms, contact your vet. 🩺❤️

Max came to PEH after developing persistent retching. Although he was still eating and drinking, his owners noticed that he seemed uncomfortable and restless.

After being checked by our team and receiving treatment, Max was able to head home with his family.

Vomiting and diarrhoea can affect puppies more quickly than adult dogs, so it’s important to keep an eye on their appetite, energy levels and hydration.

If your puppy is repeatedly vomiting, refusing food or seems unusually weak or sleepy, don’t wait to seek veterinary advice. Your usual vet or PEH can help. 🐾

Meet ChaCha 🐾

ChaCha was brought to PEH after falling from a cat shelf and subsequently developing difficulty urinating and blood in her urine.

Our emergency team carried out a thorough assessment, including an abdominal ultrasound, which showed changes in her bladder.

ChaCha was started on treatment and is now on the road to feeling better.

Blood donation plays an important role in emergency and critical care. We’re looking for suitable dogs to join our blood donor community.

Could your dog be a donor? They should be:

• 1–8 years old

• 25kg or more

• Healthy and fully vaccinated

• Up to date with parasite control

• Not taking regular medication

• Comfortable being handled by veterinary staff
Blood donation clinics take place on the 1st Saturday of every month at Pet Emergency Hospital.
