It's been an anxious day today but I'm relieved and delighted to say that Peter Pocket is doing well.
I started to panic a little this afternoon as he is sleeping so much. Yes, kittens do sleep a lot but not this much. He's sleeping so much that I was concerned it was lethargy and that he might be fading.
Just back from the vet who gave him the all clear. His temp is normal, weight is up 2g from yesterday and he's toileting normally. 2g is small but any gain is a win when they are this young.
I think that after spending 2 days alone in that shed, without food or warmth, and crying for help all that time, his tiny body is totally exhausted. Now that he's warm and safe and getting the nutrients he needs, he can just focus on recouperating.
So he's sleeping, eating, sleeping and then sleeping some more.
Neonatal kittens are incredibly vulnerable so things will be touch and go for a while but thankfully, for now, it seems he has every chance of thriving.
Please keep your fingers crossed for little Peter.
