When was the last time you had a proper look between your dogโs toes? ๐
Our dogsโ paws do a lot of work. Providing traction, protecting the tissues underneath and helping cushion the forces generated every time they walk, run and play.
And sometimes, they can tell us when something isnโt quite right.
โ๏ธ Persistent licking or chewing
โ๏ธ Redness between the toes
โ๏ธ Saliva staining
โ๏ธ Cracked or damaged pads
โ๏ธ Broken or overgrown nails
โ๏ธ An unusual smell
โ๏ธ Limping or sensitivity when a paw is touched
These signs shouldnโt automatically be dismissed as โjust lickingโ. Paw irritation can have many causes, including environmental irritation, allergy, infection, pain, trauma or something as simple as a grass seed or other foreign material lodged between the toes.
Nutrition matters too. ๐
A healthy skin barrier relies on appropriate nutrition, including essential fatty acids and good-quality protein. For dogs where food sensitivity is suspected, a carefully selected novel protein source may also form part of a veterinary-led dietary approach.
Thatโs one of the reasons we use insect protein in Omuu, alongside carefully selected nutrients designed to support skin, coat and overall health.

And remember: persistent redness, licking, odour, pain or lameness deserves a conversation with your vet.
