We got the sad news that Sabine Helfferich had passed away yesterday. Sabine and Markus adopted two dogs from CGS, Gandalf and Frodo. Technically Frodo was supposed to be a foster dog, but the moment we arrived with him, Sabine made it clear that he was not leaving. Gandalf, who was a senior accepted the addition of a wild puppy with good grace. Today our hearts and thoughts goes out to Markus, Gandalf and Frodo as they have to learn how to navigate life without a beloved wife and dog mum..Rest in peace, Sabine. May your memory be a blessing.

We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Frances Murphy. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Murphy, who passed away today following a short illness.

Frances devoted her heart and soul to running an animal sanctuary, dedicating so much of her life to rescuing, caring for and giving animals a second chance. Her compassion, kindness and unwavering commitment to animals touched so many lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will never be forgotten. 🐾💜

A very special and heartfelt thank you to Frankie Coote and Sam Cleary for spending the last six weeks caring for Frances, and to all her wonderful volunteers who continued to look after the rescue and its animals so beautifully. Your kindness, dedication and support mean more than words can say. 💜

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Frances’s beloved husband, Jimmy, and all her family and friends at this heartbreaking time.

Rest peacefully, Frances. Thank you for everything you did for the animals who needed you. Your love and compassion will live on in every life you saved. 🐾💜

The weather was not entirely on our side, but after a violent downpour that drenched everyone the sun came out, the coast line was stunning as always, and everyone enjoyed the Great Global Greyhound Walk in Co Clare. Six dogs from CGS attended. Sweeney was the sole current resident. Frederic, Zachary, Icy, Juno and Bran all came with their humans. Many thanks to Anna for organising the walk, and a big thank you to everyone who donated to CGS. €295 was raised! Thank you so much everyone! ❤️❤️❤️

Suki, previously known as Berserker, lived up to her name. She was a beautiful brindle girl with the most beautiful smile. She was intense, funny, chaotic, and acted like a honey badger, in the nicest possible way.
We had the pleasure of having her for over a year, and what an intense year it was. If we had to think of one word to describe her, intense would be it. She lived intensely and she loved just as intensely.
She could be wary of new people, but once she knew you, she would smother you with love or, better yet, she would force you to smother her with love. Personal space was not really a concept Suki believed in. She needed to be nearly physically attached to her emotional support human at all times, preferably with as much of her body touching you as possible.
We will miss her just as intensely.
Life is sometimes so unfair. We wish we could have found her a home. We wish she could have lived much longer. But we hope she was happy. We did everything we could to make sure she was.

Fly high, Suki. We will always love you.

Will you please send good thoughts to Suki. She is currently recovering from surgery and the next 24 hrs are critical. What everyone thought was a very bad case of gastroenteritis turned out to be pieces of a gardening glove that had stuck to her bowels. We just want her to survive this.
