🐾 NEW: Veterinary Dermatology Consultations at Beaufield Veterinary Centre 🐾
Is your pet constantly itchy? 🐶🐱Dealing with recurring ear infections?Or struggling with skin problems that just keep coming back?
We’re delighted to introduce our new 30-minute dermatology consultations with our vet Sarah, who has a particular interest in veterinary dermatology and has spent the last three years focusing her postgraduate studies in this area.
Sarah joined the Beaufield team in 2020 and qualified from UCD in 2005. With over 20 years of experience as a small animal vet, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to every consultation. She has also recently completed her Advanced Veterinary Practitioner Certificate (CertAVP) in Veterinary Dermatology with the University of Liverpool, a postgraduate qualification accredited by the RCVS.
🔎 What happens during a dermatology consultation?
These extended 30-minute appointments allow Sarah plenty of time to:• Discuss your pet’s particular skin or ear problems in detail• Carry out a thorough examination• Take appropriate samples where needed• Investigate possible underlying causes• Develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to your pet
Depending on your pet’s individual needs, diagnostic tests may include cytology, trichograms, Wood’s lamp examinations or skin scrapes. Additional tests, such as blood tests, may also be recommended depending on your pet’s age and circumstances.
💚 We know chronic skin problems can be frustrating.
When your pet is repeatedly itchy or suffering from recurring ear infections, it can be difficult to know what to do next. There isn’t always a quick fix, but there are many effective treatment options available. With time, patience and the right diagnostic tests, we can be hopeful that we can identify what’s contributing to the problem and help your pet feel more comfortable.
