The eccentricity of veterinary life

🦉 A little night-time rescue! 🌙

One of our vets was called out at around 3am last night to a cow and came across this beautiful Barn Owl lying on the road. 🥺

Not wanting to leave it vulnerable, he carefully brought it home for the night and brought it into the clinic this morning for a full check-up. ❤️

Thankfully, everything seems to be looking good, and our beautiful visitor is bright and well! 🥰

We’re hoping to release him back to the area later this evening, once it’s dark and safe for him to continue on his way. 🦉✨

A lovely reminder that sometimes our vets get to help some very unexpected patients — even in the middle of the night! 💕🌙🦉🤍

It is with a heavy heart that we send Gary on his way as he sets out on an adventure down under! ✈️🇦🇺
Gary has been a wonderful team member, colleague, and asset to both our farm animal practice and our pet clinic. He quickly became a friendly face that both our staff and clients loved to meet, and he has been an absolute pleasure to work with.
While we are very sad to see him go and he will be greatly missed, we truly hope he enjoys his travels. We can't wait to hear all about his adventures!
Bon voyage for now, Gary! 🧳🌏

Did you know our vet Gary also serves the Pet owners of Cavan in our clinic?

Gary spoke with Northern Sound on the dangers of heatstroke in our companion animals

He was speaking as the recent spell of good weather causes concerns for a lot of pet owners
