A Note to Our Community Regarding a Recent Stray Cat Case.
​We are aware of the ongoing discussions on social media regarding a severely ill stray cat brought to our clinic recently, and we want to share the medical facts to provide clarity.
​When this middle-aged, intact ginger male stray arrived, our primary focus was evaluating his welfare and level of pain. A thorough clinical assessment revealed multiple advanced, life-limiting issues:
+ ​Advanced Head/Eye Pathology: A severe, deeply necrotic mass involving the eye socket, which had already spread to regional lymph nodes.
+ ​Severe Respiratory Distress: Open-mouth breathing and severe respiratory effort, along with a high fever that persisted even under sedation and attempts to cool him down.
+ ​Severe Oral Disease & Chronic Illness: Multiple painful, fractured canine teeth and advanced FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).
+ ​Given the extent of his disease, the level of active suffering, and the complete absence of any realistic path to recovery or effective pain relief, our veterinary team made the difficult but humane decision to perform end-of-life care (euthanasia) under sedation.
​This decision was based strictly on animal welfare, severe pain, and medical prognosis—never on financial considerations.
​Our clinic frequently performs pro bono work to care for vulnerable stray animals in our community whenever there is a viable chance at recovery. For example, right now our team is actively treating and looking after a very ill stray dog brought to us today after being hit by a car.
​As veterinary professionals, our ethical duty is always to advocate for the animal: to treat and save them whenever possible, and to prevent prolonged, untreatable suffering when it is not.
​We deeply appreciate how passionately our community cares about animal welfare, and we thank you for your understanding.
