When your dog keeps doing something you don't like, it's worth asking why it's working for them.

Rather than just trying to stop unwanted behaviour, we need to look at what's driving it, change what we can about the situation, and teach our dogs what we'd prefer them to do instead.

It's not about blaming the dog. It's about giving them the right support to succeed.

Turns out Grey’s Anatomy has some pretty good dog training advice too.

Practice until it becomes fluent.
Be the person your dog can rely on.
Give them someone to run to.
Help them find their confidence.
And when you don’t understand something, learn more rather than simply guessing.

There are some cases I choose not to take on.

As a force-free training business, we don't work with owners who are currently using electronic collars or electronic boundary fences or dogs who live permanently outdoors.

That's not a judgement of the owner. People make these choices for all sorts of reasons, and we understand that.

It's simply about being consistent with the way we choose to train and the environment we believe our training should support.

Gundog owning photographer wanted!

I'm looking to update the photography on the Venture Dog Training website and would love to collaborate with a photographer who has a gundog breed.

I'm thinking training + photography — I'll provide some complimentary training for your dog, and in return we'd create some natural, high-quality images that I can use for my website and social media, while giving you some great gundog content for your portfolio.

You don't need to be an established professional — a serious amateur or someone starting out would be very welcome.
