North West Trails - Mantrailing

After 2 knee surgeries, 5 months postop, 9 months since her last trail, my little rockstar is loving being back at work mantrailing.
Her happy face, busy nose, and waggy tail shows how much she loves this sport🐕‍🦺
Thank you Irene Gleann na Madraí for setting up her trails and being patient with me for being so particular about what I wanted to achieve and being cautious about distance and speed🙏
Big thanks to Fintan and All Staff Ballina Veterinary Clinic for helping us in her recovery

Perfect conditions today for a little hike up to the 'Scarecrow' - not even going to attempt to spell it in Irish, apparently it has many variations😉
Sadly without the dogs, but had great company of Foxford Ramblers Walking Club lovely bunch to spend the day with⛰️

We'll keep to daytime trailing for now to allow new dog teams to strenghten their foundations.
Those on their progression journey will be introduced to new components - high find, end of trail indication (car pick up), crossing gates.

We really mean when we say ALL dogs are welcome, this sport is hugely beneficial to reactive and nervous dogs, I always ensure your dog is comfortable and work confidently to their own abilities.

If you ever get the chance to have your photos taken with your family dog, I honestly couldn’t recommend Zsuzsi enough. 🐾❤️
Her upcoming visit to Ireland will bring her to Co Mayo, booking slots are open 11-14th September.

We've had very productive sessions in August, lots of progress made by both dogs and handlers: distance, age, distractions, car seat start, reading body language and understanding pressure on the line.
I always aim at looking at each individual dog's ability, motivation, comfort and skill level.
After a handler's request, we tried airscenting with a dog who is more confident off lead and has a super recall...well, turns out, he is a natural, he absolutely nailed it and has already brilliant foundation for indication of finding a 'missing person'
