And honestly? That’s normal.

The trick isn’t stopping it overnight… it’s guiding it gently in the right direction.
Toys in, hands out. Calm reactions in, chaos out. Consistency wins every time.

Apparently, morning walkies cannot commence until the person fitting the harness has received the appropriate number of kisses.
Health & Safety have been informed.

Still his usual happy, relaxed self — although apparently the new gear required a little extra enthusiasm…

And yes, Ted assures me there’s a perfectly good reason he’s way out in front.

Go walking with dogs. 🤦‍♂️🐕🤣

A proper busman’s holiday this afternoon, enjoying a lovely walk around Sotts Hole in West Bromwich with my sister, her friends Ruby and Tracy, and the absolutely gorgeous Maisey and Jazz. 🐾❤️

Beautiful weather, lovely company, plenty of laughs and, naturally, two four-legged members of the walking party who completely stole the show! 😂

I suppose I could have taken a holiday from dogs…

…but where on earth would be the fun in that? 🤷‍♂️🤣🐕

And judging by these photos my sister took, I think Maisey and Jazz were quite happy with the arrangement too! 📸🐾❤️

I recently spoke with a dog owner who told me that every walk felt like a workout session. Their dog pulled towards every smell, every bird, and every passing dog.
The interesting thing?
The dog wasn't being naughty.
The dog had simply learned that pulling worked.
Lead walking isn't about forcing a dog to stay beside you. It's about teaching them that paying attention to you is more rewarding than charging ahead.
With patience, consistency, and the right training approach, even strong pullers can learn to walk politely.
Small improvements today become big successes tomorrow.

Walking your dog should be enjoyable, not a daily tug-of-war. If your dog drags you down the street, pulls towards every distraction, or seems to forget you exist the moment the lead goes on, you're certainly not alone.

I once watched a puppy being taken through a busy town centre: café stops, dog greetings, children, traffic… all in one morning.
The puppy looked "busy and happy”.
But there was no real calm.
And that’s the thing about socialisation — it’s often misunderstood.
Real confidence doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from doing things slowly, calmly, and well.
Sometimes the best socialisation moment is just sitting on a bench together… watching the world go by… and letting the puppy realise nothing bad is happening.
No pressure. No rush. No chaos.
Just quiet learning. 🐾
That’s where real confidence grows.

Want a puppy that actually enjoys learning?
One of the biggest mistakes new puppy owners make is thinking training has to be strict or complicated.
The truth is, puppies learn best when training is positive, rewarding, and fun.
When we reward good choices instead of focusing on mistakes, puppies become more confident, more engaged, and far more willing to learn.
Positive reinforcement doesn't just teach behaviours like sit, stay, and recall.
It helps build trust.
It strengthens your bond.
And it creates a puppy that wants to work with you rather than simply obeying out of fear.
Every puppy will make mistakes (usually at the most inconvenient moment possible 🤣), but patience and consistency go a very long way.
