Probably little more than a momentary change in ambient light. Dogs and cats don't understand what an eclipse is, but they can sense that the surroundings change for a few minutes.

So while we look up at the sky, they can carry on with their routine as completely normal. 🐾✨

🐱💚 Today, August 8, we celebrate International Cat Day.

They say cats don't need anyone, but those of us who share our lives with them know that a purr, a gentle head bump, or following us from room to room says much more than it seems.

Every cat has a unique personality. Some are curious and adventurous, while others are calm and observant, but they all share their own special way of showing affection.

As veterinarians, we are fortunate to witness every day the strong bond that develops between cats and their families. And we know that the best way to give back all that love is by caring for their health, respecting their nature, and providing them with the care they need.

🩺 An ultrasound case that seemed straightforward, but turned out to be much more complex than expected.

Sandra Verdúguez, Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at UNAVETS, shares the case of a kitten that arrived at the emergency clinic after a metallic foreign body was detected in its digestive tract via X-ray.

During the ultrasound, locating it wasn't as easy as it seemed. The images were easily confused with intestinal gas and didn't show the typical pattern of an obstruction.

Ultimately, thanks to the combination of X-rays, ultrasound, and clinical evaluation, emergency surgery was performed, successfully confirming the presence of the foreign body.

This case highlights the importance of combining different diagnostic tools to get a complete picture and make the best decision for every patient.

💚 If your pet is experiencing persistent vomiting or you suspect they may have ingested an object, consult your vet as soon as possible.

🐶 💚 Today, July 21, we celebrate World Dog Day.

Those loyal companions who greet us with the same excitement every single day, stand by us through the good times and the bad, and teach us the true meaning of loyalty.

But today is also a reminder that loving a dog means caring for them: providing a healthy diet, regular exercise, routine veterinary check-ups, and all the love and affection they deserve.

And let's not forget the thousands of dogs still waiting for a family. Adoption remains an opportunity to change a life... and yours too. 🐾

🐱💚 This is Salem's story: a recovery that reminds us how important it is to act quickly.

Salem, an 8-year-old cat, came to our clinic with vomiting, a lack of appetite, and breathing difficulties.

Following tests and intensive monitoring, a prolonged admission and specialised treatment were necessary to stabilise her condition 🩺🫁

After 22 days of care, she was able to return home and continues to progress favourably 🐾✨

This case reminds us that symptoms such as stopping eating, vomiting, or struggling to breathe should never be ignored.

💚 At the first sign of any change in your pet, consult your vet as soon as possible.
