🌍 Inspired by Nature. For the Climate. For Our Future.

A call to move beyond words and into action.

Beyond slogans β€” it's time for real action
Year after year, World Environmental Day arrives with bold themes and inspiring catchphrases. But the planet cannot wait for more posters. This year's message is clear: we've had enough annual celebrations β€” what the world urgently needs is coordinated, practical action to mitigate climate change.

Nature as our greatest teacher
The theme "Inspired by Nature ~ For the Climate, For Our Future" reminds us that sustainable solutions already exist all around us. From forest ecosystems to wetlands and soil health, nature-based solutions offer powerful, proven pathways to carbon sequestration, biodiversity protection, and climate resilience.

The contrast we can no longer ignore
The imagery speaks volumes β€” on one side, a lush green landscape full of life; on the other, a cracked, arid wasteland. This is not a distant forecast. It is the reality unfolding in communities across Africa and the world today. The choice between these two futures lies in the decisions we make right now.

One health, one welfare β€” all life is connected
This initiative is championed by COW-Africa (Center for One Welfare – Africa) and NGAMED Veterinary Hospital β€” a reminder that human health, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability are deeply intertwined. Protecting ecosystems is not separate from protecting people and animals; it is the very foundation of it.

Rally together β€” your action matters
Change does not wait for governments or conferences alone. It starts with communities, households, businesses, and individuals choosing differently every day β€” planting trees, reducing waste, advocating for green policy, and holding each other accountable. Today is a rallying call: unite, act, and build the future our planet deserves.

What practical step will YOU take today for the climate? Drop it in the comments and inspire someone else to act. πŸ‘‡

Collaboration is not an option! Let us join forces to eliminate rabies.

We are Stronger Together for World Rabies Day 2026!

On 28 September 2026, World Rabies Day raises global awareness for the disease. This year's theme, Stronger Together, reminds us that rabies elimination is only possible if we work together. Collaboration is not optional, but essential if we want to make a world free from rabies a reality.

This year, remember:
Everyone has a role to play.
Collaboration increases impact.
Rabies elimination depends on interconnected actions.

Eid al-Adha Mubarak πŸŒ™βœ¨

As we come together to celebrate the blessed occasion of Eid al-Adha, let us remember that the true spirit of this holy festival lies not only in devotion and gratitude β€” but also in responsibility, compassion, and care for one another, and that protecting public health and animal welfare is an essential part of our celebration.

This Eid, we are reminded to celebrate safely and mindfully by following these five essential guidelines:

πŸ„ Buy Only Healthy Animals β€” Ensure the livestock you purchase for sacrifice shows no signs of illness. Healthy animals mean safe food for you and your loved ones. This protects you, your family, your community, and upholds the integrity of the sacrifice.

🏠 Slaughter Animals Humanely and at Approved Facilities β€” Honor the sanctity of the occasion by treating animals with the utmost respect and compassion during the process, and use designated, hygienic slaughter areas to prevent food and environmental contamination.

πŸ™Œ Handle Meat with Clean Hands & Tools β€” Hygiene starts with you. Cross-contamination is a major cause of foodborne illnesses. Always wash your hands thoroughly and keep knives, cutting boards, and hooks clean when handling meat to prevent contamination.

πŸ– Cook Meat Thoroughly with Clean Utensils β€” Properly cooked meat keeps you and your loved ones safe from pathogens. Ensure all meat reaches the right temperature using properly washed pots and utensils.

♻️ Dispose of Waste Responsibly β€” Keep our communities clean and healthy. Do not leave animal remains or waste in the open. Dispose of it swiftly and correctly in designated waste bins to keep our neighborhoods clean and prevent the spread of disease. Proper waste disposal is an act of charity to your neighbors and the environment.

Eat Safe Meat | Celebrate Responsibly | Live Long

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful, blessed, and safe Eid al-Adha! 🌟

Zoonotic diseases are infectious diseases that can spread between animals and humans through direct transmission (immediate physical transfer) and indirect transmission (transfer through a contaminated substance or object, or a vector).

Kills! 's Kill Rabies!

06/09/2025

The month of September is here again, to garner efforts to eliminate one of the oldest, yet neglected disease- Rabies; a ZOONOTIC DISEASE (transmissible from animals to humans).

* Rabies, gotten through bites and scratches from dogs and cats (the most common animals), is 100% fatal (death is assured), once symptoms and signs appear.
* The Good news is that it also 100% preventable through vaccination and continuous annual re-vaccination.
* The Bad news is that 1 person dies every 9 minutes from rabies across the world, whilst there are vaccines available to prevent this deadly disease.

World Rabies Day is celebrated annually on September 28, to create and raise awareness of the disease and serve as a WAKE-UP CALL TO ACTION. The 2025 World Rabies Day celebration centers on the theme "Act Now: You, Me, Community," emphasizing the collective responsibility required to eliminate rabies-related deaths.

 You (Individual Action): Personal responsibility of individuals to protect themselves and their families by understanding the risks of rabies, seeking immediate medical attention if bitten or scratched by an animal (especially dogs and cats), and ensuring their pets are vaccinated. Pet vaccination is a critical personal act that contributes directly to community-wide protection.

 Me (Professional and Collaborative Action): The role of professionals, such as veterinarians, medical doctors, and public health officials underscores the importance of intersectoral collaboration, tackling and controlling the disease with the "One Health" approach, where human and animal health sectors work together to control the disease; where surveillance, rapid response, and public education are coordinated and executed jointly.

 Community (Collective Impact): Effective rabies prevention is a community-level endeavor; promoting mass vaccination campaigns for dogs and cats, who are the primary transmitters of the virus to humans. Calls for widespread public awareness programs to educate people about rabies prevention, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of reporting suspected cases. By working together as a community, we can break the cycle of transmission and move closer to global rabies elimination.

Act Now – delaying these efforts costs lives. Let us all acknowledge that while the goal of zero human deaths from dog-mediated rabies is ambitious, it is achievable when everyone plays their part timely.
