Happy 1st birthday Moor Houses Lady Diana🥳🥕🎉
Our beautiful girl living up to her name a proper lady with some cheekiness thrown in & isn't she a stunner 😍💖😍💖

She a cuddle monster loves people and learning new things, very quick to take it in, nothing fazes her. She's loving life with her friends 🥰

We all just love her & watching her grow exciting things to come from this filly for sure 👌

Breeding isnt easy: when it goes well its magical but when it goes wrong it can be sole destroying make you doubt why we do what we do so when we bred & ask the prices we do its because we put in the hours, the work, the love & all the financial cost to get a healthy baby

We'll always show you the reality of what happens: the good, bad & everything between

So here's an update on the latest arrival following yesterday's sneak picture👀

Its a long one.. Poppy finally released her foal 2.46am Sunday morning a textbook perfect birth & Poppy is all well passed placenta by 3.35am we're monitoring her as standard regularly temp checks etc

A stunning c**t with lots of white, he came out bright alert at 2.46am & was stood by 3.30, clever boy, but.....

We soon released he didn't show much interest in mum or have a suck reflex

Despite trying to rally him not much improvement, he would lightly suck our fingers but not his mum or get him to take a bottle

He was tubed to get colostrum into him, given him some pen strep to cover him for sepsis & a tetanus ( mare is vaccinated & had extra pre foaling tet)

He started to rally & suck reflex got stronger on our finger but still not mare/bottle

Poppy omg she's a ⭐️ I had to milk her & he was given a feed every hour through Sunday/Sunday night/Monday morning

Given all his symptoms he had to have been a partial 'Dummy' foal, we did a Madigan Squeeze, huge improvement was looking for teat etc but then went backwards again

We did 2nd Squeeze again huge improvement & he had a proper suck reflex but then again went dosey

In one last attempt or he was going into specialist equine vets

We repeated, he came round the best ever & although still wasn't feeding on mare he was looking, butting the bag I kept trying him & got him on the mare feeding 🥳🥳 now I won't lie I cried (no apologises for tears on video): a mixture of total exhaustion with no sleep & joy/relief that he was now feeding

Now he's away non sucking & acting like a normal foal

Blood showed despite all our effort he'd only had a partial transfer from colostrum 😪 so frustrating
So yesterday he had a plasma transfer, bloods retest tomorrow to make sure it's all worked🤞

Don't have many photos but here's a couple
Hard work determination & the love for our horses/foals has paid off
Im even more grey, hairdressers have their work cut out on Friday 🤣

We welcome Moor Houses King Harry appropriate as he's a full brother to last years foal King William

A blur of a week & weekend,

Sorting through lambs ready to get next batch back to the moor. Our last ewe lambed so thats lambing 2026 over & out 🥳🐑🎉
Field work has been getting done over the last couple of weeks chain harrowing, sparying & fert going on
The boys headed to The Tractor Fest @ Newby Hall great day out (I stayed home= foal watch)

Sat night/Sunday morning Poppy had her foal at 347 days (& that's a whole different story for another post & we are keeping everything 🤞for the little mite, 1 sneaky pic on here)

On a more positive note its a Happy 4th Birthday to the stunning MHFS Cruz Layne aka Cruz 🥳🥕🎉 he's by Langaller Farm - Charles Upham stallion 'Starring Role'

Living a lovely life up in Northumberland he's a big horse & so beautiful, he was lightly started last year & we are definitely excited to see this boy getting going under saddle & in the white boards where he'll be wowing some judges for sure😍💖

What better way to brighten a grey day celebrate a birthday. Happy 3rd birthday, King Arthur aka Artie our stunning shire🥳🥕🎉

He's out of Dora (she had Louis this year) by our late stallion Frettholt Joker (Hengststation "Frettholt-Shire" )

Left us a weaning, loaded travelled like a pro for about 5hrs down to live his best life with his new mum Rowena 🥰
They are learning all the time & have enjoyed taking part in activities showing & camps inc Heavy Horse Camp learning all things from plaiting the shire to show ringcraft

Can't believe he's 3, getting big but still a big baby who likes nothing better than a comfy stable to snuggle & have a good snooze..😴
I mean who doesn't 🤣

What a delightful day🌧☔️🤣 glad to have a few hours in doing my Lantra course.

Take me back to the weekend and sunshine.
We ticked off a good few jobs we got 'Pleashaw Vinny' (Tomschoice Percy x Swale Lolly) our new limousin bull turned out after his quarantine, he was very happy to meet his ladies💖 & we're excited for baby Vinnys next year

5 of the broodmares had baths and leg washes so much work goes into our mares aswell, as it should, its not all about work into the foals

Everyone has been enjoying the sunshine such a beautiful place we live in

A few commonly asked questions we get with our foals/youngstock-

⭐️How much?
Prices from £4000-£5000 for part breds & up to £6000 for pure shires.

Its not a random number plucked out of a hat these are prices worked out to to recover all my costs on stud fees/stud livery/transport/vets fees to get in foal. Then the mares keep, the foal, the passports, genetic/dna testing, insurance & pays me back for some of my time I put in. It is a job, one that I enjoy, love doing & take pride in!

⭐️How is payment made?
A 20% deposit secures (non refunded if you pull out but is if something happens to the foal). Balance paid on weaning at approx 6mths, we can take payments over the period til weaning if it helps equally if you need a little longer to pay balance talk to us we can work out a plan
All invoices are done through QuickBooks!

⭐️Will my foal be handed?
Absolutely we pride ourselves on giving our stock the correct start in life..they will be confident in things like leading, loading, bath, rugs, being tired up, seen plastic, flags umbrellas farm machinery & livestock

⭐️Can I come view the foals? Buy unseen?
Absolutely! View before purchase & I'll your welcome to come see how your baby is getting on til weaning, plus regular updates will be sent aswell.
We are happy to sell unseen as we appreciate distance can be an issue we can send as much info/pics/videos as needed but don't be offended if we ask alot of questions

⭐️Can I transport the babies?
No but very happy to recommend transportors & only people I've used or would use

⭐️ Will they be ok to load when we pick the up?
It's part of what we do! They will be confident walking into trailer with mum & something we go over again after weaning before they leave

⭐️Can I get the foal vet checked/strangles tested/tests of any sort before coming home?
Of course, all our stock is open to any vet checks & health test before purchase & if needed before leaving at weaning at your cost

⭐️My livery yard/home isn't ready for the baby, are you ok keeping him/her a little longer?
don't worry! Just keep me informed & we will come up with a plan!

⭐️Can the c**t be castrated before coming home?
Providing both have dropped, we happy to sort this but its at your cost directly to the vet. But full payment of the foal must be made before the castration!

⭐️What happens once the foal is no longer in your care?
As a breeder we will always have a responsibility to the stock we have bred, we will support you, offer any advice, you'll join our private group of owners to share updates get advice & be part of a extended family. I'll always appreciate updates and love to come & see them when possible

Photos for attention of just some of our stock- enjoy 💖

Bitter sweet day as we celebrate a heavenly birthday for Diamond Surprise aka Banjo, he would have been 7 today🌈🥕

What a stunning boy he grew into, born a Surprise 2 weeks early at 320 days with no signs from his mum, he caught us out hence his name

He achieved so much with his mum in a short time they both learnt & grew together.
Lots of memories made & able to cherish including making a national magazine featuring on a 3 page spread in Your Horse Magazine how incredible 🎉🥳

He'll be celebrating up there with some of our horses that were to good to be down here🌠

Well today to follow his half sister yesterday its A Happy 4th Birthday to Chance Encounter aka Chance 🥳🥕🎉

We had chosen the stallion Hydrogen from Thorpeley Irish Draught and Rare Breed Stud for Dora our shire, despite several attempts she just wouldn't take by chilled so Bruce kindly let me swap mares to Duchess hence this beautiful boys name Chance Encounter

Sold as a foal we were lucky to be able to keep him on youngstock livery with us til last summer, we've watch him grown to a special horse & having him here helped when we lost his mum

He's now living a wonderful life with his mum down south & about to start his next chapter as he prepares to be started under saddle

Very much looking forward to watching his journey🥰
