🐔 How to reduce the risk of Enterococcus lameness in broilers

Our Clinical Director, Sara, has recently written an article for Farmers Weekly exploring how to reduce the risk of Enterococcus lameness in broilers.

Enterococcus infections can cause severe lameness and paralysis, impacting both bird welfare and farm performance.

Key prevention measures include:
✅ Good brooding conditions
✅ Clean sheds and drinking water
✅ Strong immunity and coccidiosis control
✅ Robust biosecurity
✅ Early identification of affected birds
✅ Investigating possible co-infections

Good gut health, hygiene and management from day one can help protect your flock.

🚜 Something every farmer should have on their phone.

We wanted to share something we at PHS think everyone working on a farm should have. The new FarmersAid app from RABI provides simple, step-by-step guidance for serious on-farm human accidents, helping you respond confidently while emergency services are on their way.

It covers common farm emergencies including machinery incidents, livestock injuries, falls and electric shocks.

Hopefully you’ll never need it but it’s definitely worth having. 📱
