We love a happy ending ❤️

Nellie was one of 14 dogs found emaciated after their owner sadly passed away. After receiving the care and treatment she desperately needed at York Animal Home, Nellie found a loving new home with Rich.

Rich says: “Four months or so in with Nellie, she’s being a star. She enjoys her walks but insists on being carried to the car as she doesn’t like my front door. She has a lovely woof which she sometimes uses to say hello to people walking past my house and gets a bit confused when I woof too!! She’s a happy and extremely fluffy dog, who enjoys her brushes.”

It’s wonderful to see Nellie happy, healthy and loved.

Thanks to the incredible support of our supporters, we can continue caring for animals like Nellie who need us. But we still have a long way to go to reach our rebuild target.

Please help us continue giving animals the second chances they deserve. Every donation makes a difference.

£800,000 to go to complete Phase 1. 🐾

We’ve raised £1.2m. Construction has started. And now we need to find the final £800,000 to complete the first stage of York Animal Home’s rebuild campaign.

This includes building a brand new Puppy Unit, Cattery and Community and Training Hub.

It feels like a huge amount - because it is.

But if enough of us give what we can, we know we can get there.

Could you help us get a little closer this week? ❤️

There are lots of ways you can support the appeal:

- Buy a virtual brick on our Puppy or Cat wall
- Fundraise with your friends or colleagues
- Become a corporate partner or sponsor part of the build
- Or simply make a donation

Please visit www.yorkanimalhome.com for more information.

Thank you for your support 🙏

There’s nothing we love more than hearing updates about animals who have found their forever homes. ❤️🐾

Blade and Mischief had a difficult start, arriving at York Animal Home after being found living in poor conditions, alongside two dogs and another cat. They stayed with us for some time, before Lisa and Martin fell in love with them and welcomed them home, and it sounds like these two have settled in rather well!

“We honestly can’t believe how lucky we are to have these babies! They rule our house with a paw of iron! They have amazing personalities - they are like furry Hells Angels and just do as they please!!! Especially at 3am!” 🤣🐾

They also love Cat TV on YouTube, naturally! 📺🐱

From a difficult beginning to ruling the house, Blade and Mischief are now safe, loved and completely spoiled rotten - exactly as every rescue animal deserves.

Thank you, Lisa and Martin, for giving these two beautiful characters the wonderful home they deserve.

We want to continue caring for rescue animals for generations to come, so please support our rebuild appeal at www.yorkanimalhome.com and help us build a future for every paw.

🐾 Rosie: From fear to a life filled with love.

Many of you will remember the heartbreaking rescue of 82 dogs from horrific conditions in Doncaster last year. Seventeen of those frightened dogs came into the care of York Animal Home - including Rosie, who was pregnant.

Not long after arriving somewhere safe, Rosie gave birth to three puppies, and her little family were given the chance to begin again. And eventually, they all found loving homes.

Just over a year ago, Rosie found hers with Angela, Daisy and Peter, and what a difference that year has made. Now, Rosie spends her days chasing tennis balls, swimming and exploring every hedge she can find.

Angela said, “Rosie is loved and doted on, and she's a very sweet and affectionate girl. We don't think she'll ever be a ‘normal’ dog, but she's come on leaps and bounds over the last year. We adore Rosie and are so glad that we got to give her a home after all she went through at the start of her life.”

Animals like Rosie - and vulnerable puppies born into our care - need somewhere they can feel safe, heal and begin their journey towards a brighter future. That’s why we’re building a new Puppy Unit as part of our rebuild.

We still need to raise £800,000 to complete the £2 million needed for Phase One. Every donation will help us create the facilities vulnerable animals need for years to come.

One of the ways you can support the appeal is by buying a brick on our Puppy Wall - www.yorkanimalhome.com/puppywall

Thank you 🙏 Together we can make sure more animals like Rosie get the second chance they deserve.

Dave is one of our lovely rescue greyhounds who is quite happily snoozing through the demolition work at York Animal Home 😴🐾

While Dave catches up on his beauty sleep, we’re full speed ahead with our rebuild. Construction work is underway, helping us create a better, safer future for the animals who need us.

There’s still a long way to go, and we need your help to make it happen. 💙 Every donation, big or small, will help us build a home where future dogs, cats and other animals can feel safe, cared for and loved.

If you’d like to support our appeal, please visit www.yorkanimalhome.com.

And if you think you could offer Dave a lovely, chilled home of his own, you can find out more about him here: https://www.rspca-yorkhome.org.uk/adopt-an-animal/dave/ 🐶

We’re so excited to share that construction has officially started on our new Animal Home! 🐾🏗️

After lots of planning and fundraising, it’s amazing to see work finally underway. Phase One will focus on rebuilding our cattery and puppy unit, helping us create better spaces for the vulnerable animals in our care.

There’s still plenty to do, and we’d love you to be part of it. Whether you fundraise, buy a virtual brick, get your workplace involved through corporate support, or make a donation, every contribution will help us build a brighter future for animals in need.

A huge thank you to Ruth and all the wonderful volunteers who helped put on another amazing Summer Fair the other week.

We can confirm that we managed to beat last years total again and raised a whopping £8524 to help run the York Animal Home.

Big thanks to everyone who came along to support the day and to the team at Homestead Park for once again letting us hold the fair there.

Looking back. Looking forward. 🖤🤍

As we prepare to say goodbye to some of the buildings that have been home to York Animal Home for decades, we can't help but feel a little nostalgic.

These walls have witnessed thousands of second chances. They've sheltered frightened animals, celebrated happy endings, and welcomed generations of supporters, volunteers and staff who have made our work possible.

Our buildings may change, but our purpose never will.

For more than 160 years, our community has stood beside us, helping animals and the people who love them across York, Harrogate and the surrounding area. Every chapter of our story has been written together.

Now, we're ready to begin the next one.

By rebuilding York Animal Home, we can create a safe, modern space where vulnerable animals will receive the care they deserve for generations to come.

To everyone who has been part of our journey so far - thank you. And to everyone who'll help shape what comes next, we'd love you to be part of our future too.

Visit www.yorkanimalhome.com to support our appeal. ❤️🐾
