Teaching Teddy to go to his mat.
We used a clicker initially, and here we are working to put the behaviour on a verbal instruction. Teddy gets a little confused but gets there in the end.

I often tell clients that a relaxed down on lead is more useful than teaching your dog to fetch a beer from the fridge. Today while getting a puncture repaired on the van I was proved right.

Seems we may have a gundog on our hands
BOOM BOOM 💥
Basil today showed some real promise with spme fabulous retrieves and some indication of hunting behaviour (well he is a polish Hunting spaniel after all) we also got a sit at distance.
Yesterday I was doubting his promise but I had to give my head a wobble. He is 5 months old!!
House training is still work in progress althougj I'm thinking we are on the right track. We really are getting him outside loads more than you would think you have to. Today is going to be his first dry day in the house. I can feel it in my bones.
Just remember that when you are working with a puppy that things cannot be rushed and you will get a lot of progression and regression.
It's not a race. It's the long game.
