Road trip to train with Trailing K9s !!

🐾 TEAM CHARLIE – WHAT A SESSION! 🐾

Another team down at Minster K9’s was Team Charlie, the cheeky Cockapoo, for his progression session — and honestly, everything I throw at this boy, he just nails it! 😍🔥

We were working in an urban industrial estate environment, where the wind can cause the dogs all sorts of problems, swirling around buildings and blowing in every direction. 🌬️

We started off with a reasonable 300-yard trail, including numerous turns, road crossings and some great negatives — “Nope, it’s not that way!” — before moving on to a trail of over 800m...
Yes… 800 METRES!! 😱🔥

And he absolutely SMASHED IT! 😍😍😍

Then, for his third trail, we stepped it up again with a skill-up walking trail, where the trail layer is actually walking the entire trail.
And believe me, this is not as easy as it sounds! 👣🐕

What an awesome session from Charlie and his handler. The teamwork, commitment and progression from this team is fantastic to see! 👏🏻👏🏻

🐾 TEAM MINNIE – WHAT A TEAM! 🐾

So, just recently we had Team Minnie back down at Minster K9’s for another progression session, and honestly… this team just blows me away every single time they come! 🤩👏

When you think about where Minnie started — such a nervous dog who was wary of people and even used to chase cars — the confidence and adaptability she now shows when faced with new challenges is absolutely remarkable! ❤️🐾

This session we worked in an urban environment, around an industrial/housing estate, which can be incredibly challenging for a trailing dog. The wind can change direction at the drop of a hat, with scent being pushed and pulled around buildings, roads and open spaces. 🌬️🏢

But Minnie? She just took it all in her stride! 💪🐶
We also crossed a very busy main road, with cars and buses passing by, and Minnie wasn't fazed one bit! 🚗🚌 She stayed focused on the job and just carried on trailing. What a difference from the nervous girl we started with! ❤️

We also did a skill-up with a walking trail — where the trail layer is actually walking. Sounds easy, right? 😏
Believe me… it certainly isn't! 😂

And then came the big one…
Minnie completed a slightly aged trail of 1.2KM.
YES… 1.2KM!!! 😱🔥

And she absolutely SMASHED IT! 👏👏👏

Watching this girl grow in confidence, tackle new environments and take on increasingly difficult trails is exactly why I love what I do. ❤️

🐾 WELCOME TEAM HONEY! 🐾

Just recently we had a brand-new team down at Minster K9’s for their introduction to Mantrailing! 🐕👃

A big welcome to Team Honey, with Honey being a young Spanierd — a Spaniel/German Shepherd cross. ❤️

Well, it certainly didn’t take her long to figure out what this game was all about! 🤩

As you can see from the video, Honey was straight on the trail and putting that incredible nose to work! 👃💨 She was absolutely full of enthusiasm and gave it everything she had.

And it wasn’t just Honey who loved it — her owners had a fantastic time too! It’s always brilliant seeing a new team discover just how much fun Mantrailing can be. 🥰

What a superstar she was! ⭐️

Way to go, Team Honey! 👏👏👏
