FOR ANYONE WHO MISSED MY POST LAST WEEK -

June marks 8 whole years of trading as Browfection by Emily! Although it’s not quite the big decade milestone yet, I just wanted to take a moment to say how grateful I am to every single person who has supported me over the years — whether that’s as a client or simply by following and supporting my work on social media. It truly means the world to me. 💗

Here’s a little about how my journey as a Semi Permanent Make-Up Artist began…

I was always interested in art and beauty throughout secondary school, but I decided to study Business & Administration at York College as I thought it would open more career opportunities for me. Fast forward a few years, and the creative side of me decided to take a Semi Permanent Make-Up course in 2018. At the time, I imagined it would just be a hobby alongside my full-time job, something I’d do on evenings and weekends.

Little did I know that just a few months later, I’d have to leave my job as a PA to do this full time because the business grew so quickly. Trying to fit clients around work and two young children became impossible!

For the first couple of years, I ran my business from my mum’s conservatory because I had no space in my own home. In 2020, I built a cabin in my garden to work from, and then in 2023, when my husband and I decided to move house, I took on a lease at a salon in Acomb with my best friend Kelly at Signature Beauty. We worked together for 2 and a half amazing years doing all things beauty.

Then last year, once my husband and I completed and settled into our forever home (which needed a full renovation 🙈), I created a beautiful new workspace in my garage — a clean, calm, warm and inviting home salon that I absolutely love, and where I plan on staying.

Over the last 8 years, alongside raising my children, looking after 3 pets, getting married and completing two house renovations, I’ve continued to grow my business while working full time and giving everything I can to my clients.

I’m incredibly critical of my own work and always strive to improve, which has led me to complete a number of additional courses and expand my ever-growing treatment list. In 2020, this included a Beauty Educators Diploma, meaning I’m now qualified to teach aspiring students too.

My passion will always be Semi Permanent Make-Up. I love correcting facial symmetry and helping people feel more confident in themselves when they leave an appointment. I love seeing you all regularly, replying to messages personally, and genuinely taking an interest in your lives — just as many of you do in mine. That personal 1:1 experience is something that will always be important to me.

As a little thank you for your continued loyalty and support, I’ve ordered 100 cookies to hand out to my clients throughout June to celebrate Browfection turning 8! 🍪

And if you’re not booked in with me anytime soon, thank you from the bottom of my heart for always choosing me, supporting me and trusting me over the years. 💗

Yesterday I had the pleasure of giving this gentleman his confidence back by creating him a new eyebrow

Unfortunately due to a medical condition my client has lost a lot of hair on one brow compared to the other. My main goal was to build up the colour of the brow to mimic the other, and create a 'messy' man brow as he didn't want anything neat or womanly.

That's the beauty of semi permanent make up and my artwork. Each client's individual needs are different, it isn't just a treatment for women.

I'd say I've helped around 10 males with their brows over the last 8 years. This can be due to medical conditions, greying brows to add colour again, sparce brows, correcting facial symmetry...

If you know any males that might require this service, tell them to get in touch

(My client gave consent to use these photos on my socials but appointments can totally be confidential with no photos posted)

I'm so sorry for the second whiney post this week 🙈

But please can clients also bring means of payment to their appointments, I've had two clients this week bring no means of payment and asked to pay within the day.

I don't have time to chase up payments.

You wouldn't go to Tesco and take your shopping and ask to pay later for it so please pay after your treatments whilst your here in the salon.

Thank you ❤️

My client had her brows tattooed elsewhere a few years ago and wanted them covering using the combination technique and a dark brunette pigment 😍

Fresher, sharper and symmetrical 👌🏼

Over the last few weeks both Liv and I have had a few clients turning up to appointments with children or pets... Although this is a 'home based salon' it's still a salon, and still my home where my husband needs to be able to use our own garden for our own pets and children whilst I'm working.

And due to hygiene reasons, and danger reasons such as sharps etc, children and pets are not allowed in the salon room at all.

I've been more linient with this in the past as I know people book their appointments so far in advance and if we have to turn you away when you arrive, it could be a few weeks or months to be able to fit you back in for an appointment again .

So we just wanted to write a post to ask please don't bring children or pets to your appointments.

I also just want to clarify this isn't a targeted post at anyone who has done this in the past, so please don't worry if you have done this before, we understand how hard it is to find childcare/petcare.

Thank you ❤️
