Bruno's Story β€
I want to share the story of a very special horse I am currently treating, who has made remarkable progress since I first met him.
Bruno's owner contacted me after her Vet suggested he see a manual therapist during a lameness workup because he was showing very asymmetrical muscle development - his left and right sides looked like two different horses!
He had received a full workup after going lame earlier in the year, which revealed changes in both stifles and signs of navicular in his front feet. His stifles were medicated at the time, and the farrier was called to start remedial shoeing πͺπ»
That's when I met him - a stressed and anxious animal who was telling everyone who came close to him to stay away by biting at every opportunity.
His first treatment was difficult for both of us, as I tried to understand and help him, while Bruno didn't want to have anything to do with me π
I saw him again a month later, and I could already see improvements. The vets had medicated both front coffin joints after a follow - up, and it was clear his pain levels were reducing. He was less stressed, and didn't immediately bite when I approached. The asymmetry was less noticeable, and he was clearly moving better.
I continued to treat Bruno monthly, and gradually, we built trust - I wasn't going to hurt him, and he realised he was safe with me during treatment β€
Fast forward to the end of August: I arrived to treat a completely different horse - a horse you could stand next to the stable door without immediately getting bitten, a more relaxed and happy animal.
It's so clear to both me and his owner how much Bruno has changed in just a few months - becoming a happier and healthier horse.
Bruno's journey is far from over, and like all horses, it won't be easy. But I am so proud of the progress he's making and of his owner for not giving up on such a special horse π΄ β€
If you have a horse with a story similar to Bruno's, please get in touch to see how I can support their journey - every story is different, but together, we can help them thrive β¨
