This last week’s heatwave has meant we’ve made the decision to cancel ALL walks so far this week and swap to pop-ins instead to keep every dog safe and comfortable. ☀️🐾

As the saying goes: “No dog has died from missing a walk, but sadly some have from heat stroke.” That quote has been at the front of our minds all week.

We know routine is important, but temperatures above 20°C can quickly become dangerous for dogs, especially when walking on warm pavements or during the hottest parts of the day. Their safety will always come first with us. ❤️

Whilst us humans may have enjoyed the sunshine, we imagine the pups are all hoping for a much cooler week ahead! 🐶🌤️

That said, we were absolutely thrilled to finally hold a small group walk at 8am this morning while it was still a lovely cool 15°C — and our Lily was SO happy to be back out with her friends again! 🐶💛

We’ll still be taking precautions over the next few days, but to help make up for some of the cancelled walks (particularly for dogs who weren’t desperate for one and had owners home with them), we’ll be offering some early morning walks on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend, alongside pop-ins during the mid afternoon and evening if anyone needs them.

Thank you as always for your understanding and for helping us put the dogs’ wellbeing first.

⚠️ HEATWAVE UPDATE ⚠️

Due to the extremely high temperatures forecast for next week, the safety and wellbeing of the dogs in our care must come first 🐾☀️

As things currently stand, we will be suspending ALL walks on Monday & Tuesday next week.

We will then continue to monitor the weather for Wednesday & Thursday, with the possibility of accommodating some early morning walks between 08:00–10:00 🤞 We will keep all clients updated closer to the time once we have a clearer picture of temperatures.

Although walks may be suspended, we will still be offering “pop ins” as an alternative. These visits will allow dogs to:
🐶 Go to the toilet in the garden
🐶 Have some playtime and enrichment
🐶 Get fresh water, fuss and company while staying safe and cool indoors

We will be contacting all clients who are currently booked in on these days to confirm arrangements and time slots.

🌡️ Keeping your dogs safe during the heatwave 🌡️
• Avoid walking dogs during the hottest parts of the day
• Check pavements with the back of your hand — if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for paws
• Ensure plenty of fresh water is always available
• Keep dogs in cool, shaded areas where possible
• Never leave dogs in cars, even for a few minutes
• Watch for signs of heatstroke including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy or vomiting

Thank you all for your understanding and support — we know how much everyone loves their walks, but keeping our pups safe is always the priority ❤️🐾

We’re back from our holiday and will be returning to work tomorrow! ☀️

Just a little reminder that although it’s Bank Holiday Monday, we’ll still be working as usual, so all scheduled walks will be going ahead as normal.

Sadly, our vehicle woes still aren’t quite over yet 😅 but thankfully we have access to another vehicle for the time being. Because of this, we won’t be able to accommodate any additional ad-hoc walks this week. If you’ve already pre-booked any ad-hoc walks for this week, don’t worry — these will still go ahead as planned.

We think we’ve now caught up on all messages after being away, but if you’re still waiting to hear back from us, please just drop us a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

We can’t wait to see all of our pups again after the break, and Lily is especially eager to get back out walking with all her besties 🐾💛
