A proud moment for the Platts team! 🏅

We recently had the honour of collecting Platts Group’s Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, the scheme’s highest level of recognition for employers supporting the Armed Forces community.

We’re one of just eight employers in Wales to receive Gold in 2026, recognising our commitment to supporting veterans, Reservists, service families and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.

As a family business, this means a great deal to us. Looking after people and recognising the skills and experience they bring is central to the workplace we want to build.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us achieve this milestone, and congratulations to our fellow award recipients. A fantastic occasion celebrating a commitment we’re proud to continue. 👏

Straw in short supply? Keep your winter bedding plans on track with Platts Mixbed.

Combining softwood sawdust and shavings, Mixbed is a great alternative to straw for deep bedding in concrete-floored housing, particularly for beef cattle and youngstock.

If you’re finding straw harder to source, or looking to move away from straw bedding, Mixbed offers a practical replacement to consider as you prepare your cattle housing for winter.

From beef sheds to youngstock accommodation, speak to our team about using Mixbed in your deep-bedding setup. We can talk through your housing, bedding routine and quantities, and confirm current availability to help you plan your next order.

From the bedding order to the farm gate, there’s a team behind every load.🚚

Platts Agriculture and Platts Transport work together to keep bedding moving to farms.

If the cattle had to come inside tomorrow, would the sheds be ready?

Autumn housing can arrive quickly. And the little jobs that are easy to sort in an empty shed become considerably harder once it's full.

So, before the gates close on another grazing season, we've put together our Autumn Housing Countdown: 10 jobs worth doing before cattle come inside.

From cubicles, floors and drainage to ventilation, water, lighting and slurry systems, plus getting your winter bedding requirements sorted before you need them.

It’s a practical checklist to help you get ahead while there’s still time.

And if winter bedding is one of the jobs still on your list, speak to the Platts Agriculture team about your requirements for the housing season ahead.

🚛🌾 Inspiring the next generation in Wrexham

We were delighted to support the Wheelie Big Fun community event, organised by Caia Park Partnership, bringing vehicles and machinery right into the heart of the local community.

Representing Platts Agriculture and Platts Transport, we joined fellow members of the Wrexham Leadership Alliance to give more than 70 local children the opportunity to get up close with the vehicles and equipment that help keep our industries moving.
From climbing into the driver’s seat of a truck to exploring machinery and asking plenty of questions, it was fantastic to see so much curiosity and excitement throughout the day. 🚛🙌

For us, events like this are about more than showcasing what we do. They’re an opportunity to introduce young people to the huge variety of careers available across agriculture, transport, logistics, engineering and manufacturing, and perhaps inspire a few future drivers, engineers and industry leaders along the way.

A huge thank you to Caia Park Partnership, Wrexham Leadership Alliance and everyone involved in making the event possible.

We’re proud to be part of the Wrexham business community and even prouder to help inspire its next generation.

🌾 A challenging harvest makes planning winter bedding even more important
The 2026 harvest has been far from straightforward.

Prolonged periods of dry weather, combined with summer heat, put cereal crops under significant pressure during key stages of development. In many areas, moisture-stressed crops struggled to build the biomass normally expected, resulting in shorter crops and disappointing straw yields in some parts of the country.

🐄 So what does that mean for livestock farmers heading into winter?

Plan ahead.

Rather than waiting until cattle are housed and winter demand is at its highest, now is the time to consider how much bedding you'll need and get your supply organised.

☀️ And there are only 2 weeks left of our summer sawdust prices.

Planning your requirements now means you can take advantage of summer pricing while preparing your bedding stocks well ahead of the winter housing period.
