Phoenix Lofts Just a bird nerd who enjoys pigeons, doves and quails!

30/05/2026

It's with a heavy heart that I write this, but sadly I am looking at rehoming about half my flock.

This hasn't been an easy decision, but with costs of everything rising, I'm just unable to continue with the amount of birds I'm currently housing. I'm in the process of getting my own place and the costs that come with living alone I just can't sustain the number of pigeons I currently have. To be clear this will be mainly pigeons and potentially a few doves but the quails will be staying put.

I will be vetting any potential homes that do come forward for them, or if anyone knows of any sanctuaries that would be willing to help them please do get in touch.

My flock consists mainly of fantail pigeons but I do also have some homing pigeons that will be looking for a new home also, most of which are rescued.

If anyone can offer homes for any of them then please do get in touch. No, I don't currently have photos of them and tbh I'm not even sure who is up for rehoming atm. All of the pigeons that have been with me years will be staying. It will mainly be younger or newly rescued birds I will be looking for a home for.

If anyone is able to offer help then please do message either the page or myself.

Thank you 😊

Next on meet the quails we have Marilyn.

Marilyn also has some broken back feathers from before she came to me, likely from being over mated by Boys. Luckily once the moult happens this year she should grow them all back fine. Marley is a lovley girl and like a lot of mine is very enthusiastic for her worms.

Her colouring is Italian.

Next on meet the quails, Velma (yes, after the character in Scooby Doo πŸ˜‚)

Velma is another wild type Pharoah girl. She is quite the little lady with a really good temperament. I think Velmas feather have been broken on her back, which gives her the image of being a little frizzle quail. But I don't think she is, we will see in the next moult. My boys shouldn't over mate her so this shouldn't happen again now she is with me.

Velma is a sweetie, but doesn't like being picked up πŸ˜‚.

Next up on meet the Quails we have Ginger.

Ginger is one of the very friendly girls in the flock and is always straight to your feet to say hello when you wall into the aviary. She LOVES all kinds of worms and will eat all of them too, if given the chance. Here she is dust bathing.

Gingers colour is called Scarlet.

Next on meet the quails, we have Barbie, named for obvious reasons πŸ˜‚.

The closest to her colouring I can find online is Pastel? But if I'm honest I've no idea what she is.

Barbie prefers earthworms to the mealworms I usually get them, she is also the only Celadon in the flock. Which means she lays blue eggs.

Meet the quails. Next is Hettie.

Hettie is my only female from my last broody hen that hatched her own chick's. Although I did hope she'd keep the trend going, as her mother and grandmother did, she has never shown any interest in being a mother. I love the fact she has only ever lived in my aviary. She's 3 years old.

Her colour is Dotted White, or English White as it is also called.

Next on meet the quails we have Myfanwy.

Myfanwy was a local Wrexham girl I got earlier in the year. She's very friendly and absolutely LOVES her worms πŸ˜‚.

She's a Tibetan Tuxedo colour.
