Would you know if your horse’s saddle wasn’t fitting correctly?

Knowing what to look for can help you spot potential problems before they start affecting your horse’s comfort or performance.

In Part 1, Lizzie demonstrates a saddle that doesn’t fit and talks through some of the key things to look at, including the balance of the saddle and the contact through the panels.

Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll show you what these same checks look like on a saddle that fits correctly➡️

Feedback from our human clients is just as important as feedback from our horse clients!🐴

It’s all well and good fitting a saddle perfectly to the horse, but if it doesn’t suit or fit the rider, we’re only 50% there.

How does it feel? Do you feel balanced? Is there anything you’re fighting against or constantly trying to correct?

Those conversations while you’re riding are such an important part of the fitting process. After all, the saddle has to fit both the horse AND the rider 😊

Part 2 of Atlas and Holly’s recent saddle fitting, Lizzie talks through the GFS Monoflap in more detail, including the features that make it well suited to this type of build, helping to accommodate the horse’s shape and shoulders whilst remaining balanced and stable.

Of course, every horse is different, but for the native type, this saddle can be a really useful option to consider!

Here is a closer look at Atlas and Holly’s saddle fitting, in Part 1, Holly talks us through her experience with the new GFS Monoflap.

Designed with the rounder native type in mind, this saddle can be a great option for horses and ponies with broader shoulders, flatter backs and little-to-no wither.

Hear from Holly about how she’s found the saddle so far and how Atlas has felt to ride in it.

Stay tuned for Part 2, where Lizzie takes a closer look at the saddle itself and explains why it can work so well for this type of horse.

We’re looking forward to sharing this recent fitting with you, along with a closer look at a saddle designed specifically with the rounder native type in mind.

Wide native types can bring their own considerations when it comes to saddle fitting - particularly horses with flatter backs, broad shoulders and little-to-no wither.

And simply choosing a wider saddle isn’t necessarily the answer. The saddle needs to accommodate the horse’s shape and shoulders whilst remaining balanced and stable.

We captured the fitting from start to finish, so we’ll be sharing more from the process and taking a closer look at the saddle over the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
