Playdate with the dogs. It's a great field, lots of parking, water and bins for the dogs plus a nice shelter for when the weather isn't as sunny as today.

Here's a little behind the scenes look at a teeth clean. Frankie here is a professional, enjoying a lie down during his session. I see him regularly for a clean along with his groom and his pawrents do a great job of brushing at home in between visits. Ultrasonic teeth cleaning helps to keep the gums and teeth healthy and clean.
Isn't he a sweetheart!

"But I give my dog dental chews!"

It's something I hear quite often when I suggest that a dog might benefit from some extra dental care. Dental chews can absolutely have a place in your dog's routine, but they're not a substitute for actually cleaning your dog's teeth.

There's also been quite a bit of discussion recently about ultrasonic teeth cleaning and what it can and can't do.

Emmi-pet can be a fantastic tool for helping maintain cleaner teeth and supporting good oral hygiene, but it isn't a magic fix, and it isn't a replacement for veterinary dentistry either.

Did you know that all the fur that is shed or trimmed when your dog is with me gets bagged up and recycled? I use a company called Green Groomers Collective who recycle the fur for things like oil spills, wool alternatives and lots more. Every time your dog comes for a groom, their recycled fur is helping in many ways! Today it was time to box it all up ready for collection.

It's very satisfying seeing dogs leave in their summer trims, feeling a lot cooler. Looking forward to seeing all your pups again soon!

☀️ With hot weather expected all of next week, this is a reminder that the salon is kitted out with air con and will be a nice cool place for your dogs.

However I know I've got many local customers who walk to their appointments so I'd recommend driving in a cool vehicle where possible as walking your dogs in the temperatures forecast puts them at risk of heat stress and paw burns from hot pavements.

If you have any concerns about making it to your appointment this week please drop me a message and I'd happily rearrange. Your dog's health and safety are paramount 🐾

I know there are lots of fantastic groomers to choose from, so I thought I'd share a little about how I work. This beautiful pup falling asleep on me during their groom isn't that unusual, the calm environment definitely helps!

🐾 I purposely limit the number of dogs I groom each day and each week. This ensures I don't burn myself out so that I'm not exhausted, injured or rushing your dog and cutting corners.

🐾 Every appointment has plenty of time allocated, so we have time to have a chat when you drop your dog off, discuss their health, your grooming preferences and for me to learn what you need. It means I have time to type up my notes after your dog's groom so when you come back in a couple of months I can deliver the same style again, there's no forgotten details or different styles every visit.

🐾 No dogs are crated or left waiting while I work on others. Your dog has my full attention throughout their appointment. They get treats, playtime and garden breaks.

🐾 I speak to every new owner on the phone before offering a space. It's a chance for us to chat about your dog, your expectations, and make sure we're the right fit for one another.

🐾 I get to know every dog as an individual. Whether they're nervous, excitable, elderly or visiting for the first time, I adapt each appointment to suit them.

🐾 I'm insured, canine first aid trained, qualified in dog grooming and I've got over 75 5* reviews from happy customers.
