Wondering What Winter Will Be Like This Year?

These Are Some Images From Last Winter ❄️

It was -7 outside, but tortoises comfortably under ground at 4C throughout the brumation. Tubular heaters on thermostats in place to ensure safe brumation temperatures ❤️

My creep are slightly slowing down now, some more than others. Still having to daily dig the ones up out the garden and place back inside the kennel so they have access to Heat ❤️

Thus is an old photo from a few years ago now but you can see the first crack in the egg.

Naturalistic Outside Environments ; There Is Nothing More Rewarding 🥰

It’s fantastic as they warm up in the greenhouse for a bit, before opting to venture into the ever so increasing wild outside space, which is heavily seeded and planted with edibles. It’s beautiful to watch them wandering around nibbling on the plants, positionally basking up against rocks, the fence etc 🐢 Then take themselves back to the greenhouse for night time ❤️ 💤

All My Tortoises Have Folders For Them ; Within There I Have The Article 10s, Microchip Details, SCL Measurements and also Weights

I regularly weight the tortoises so I can keep an eye on how much they are gaining, but can also identify if they are also loosing weigh, which would then depending on the amount lost and presentation of the tortoise would need reviewing ❤️

Elizabeth Enjoying Some Weatherd Cuttlefish 🐢

Without calcium, life would not be able to go on; we as humans need calcium and so do animals and plants. Calcium is required for bone growth, blood flow, the healthy functioning of the heart, clotting within the blood but also to help the muscles effectively contract and relax (Smith, 2016). Wegehaupt (2018) suggests that “98% of the calcium content of a tortoise is stored in the bony shell and bony tissues where it facilitates the growth and structural integrity of the bony material”.
